  1. We were just assigned cabin 7622 on Jewel (guarantee balcony). Does anybody have a photo of the obstructed view?

I cannot Change the assigned cabin as we dont sail under US laws but EU. I am happy to have a balcony for the price we are paying but just curious how "bad" it's going to be.

    Thanks for any info!

We were just assigned the adjacent room, 7620 on Jewel. How was your cabin? On the deck plan it says 7622 is "obstructed" but 7620 is not, but I can't help wondering how can one cabin be obstructed but not the adjacent one if it is a lifeboat? Surely it affects more than one balconies? Thanks.

  2. I don't remember the theater ever being very full, especially after the first night as the entertainment on Jewell of the Seas has a reputation for being pretty bad. We never had to rush in and get a seat, so that is the good thing.

Oops ok then I guess that is a good thing, one less item to worry about!:D Thank you!

  3. Just got off the Jewel on 12/31/17. Does anyone have any questions?

Sailing on the Jewel this May, first time on RCL. Are there any complementary evening shows onboard this ship? In NCL and Disney we could reserve spots on all shows, even the free ones. But on RCL Cruise Planner it seems all that can be reserved are the activities you pay extra for. Just wanted to know to better plan our dining schedules. Thank you!!!

  4. Travel R, do you have any info on activities on the ship for older teens/young adults? Our daughter is 20 and wondering if the ship provides activities for this (you're right) oft-forgotten age group so she can meet new friends.

Another question: did you pre-order your soda package on myNCL prior to the cruise or is this something I can do after we board?

Thanks for your help and really enjoying reading your review.

  5. Thanks for your tip about foreign currencies. That is one less thing I need to do before we leave. Getting a good exchange rate isn't a big deal if we're only exchanging a few dollars, so I'm okay with getting it from a local bank. Our bank here charges us for shipping anyway if we exchange less than $1000.

I'm very intrigued by your visit to Lapland --- we have a 20 year old daughter and it sounds like something she would love. I will definitely look into this! Tourist traps are fine if it makes the kids happy... :D

  6. Huntingdon1701, your review is so helpful, thank you so much! In SPB, it looks like you took the Faberge tour with Alla. Why did you choose that over the Grand Tour? We too want to see Faberge but the Alla tour that includes Faberge apparently does not go inside St. Isaac's Cathedral and skips the hydrofoil ride. Would love to get your input. Thanks!
