  1. We were recently on a cruise that stopped in St Maarten on the last port day. I am Looking for the coin charm from Milano's...the one from St Maarten. I collected in the other ports, but was sick when we went to St Maarten. If you have an extra, or know someone going there that might get me one (they're free) and mail to me...I'd appreciate it so much. 1f641.png:-(1f642.png:-)

Hoping someone can help complete my cruise memory.

  2. Hi!

I collect almost all I can do. Since cruise ships postcards and miniature models to cruise cards and the onboard daily newspapers of each cruise I've taken! :-)

Unfortunately the number of postcard collectors is decreasing, while some cruise lines are stopping to print it (Costa now prints digital photos of the ships instead the old and good postcards). I have some postcards of my own publication (QE2, QM2, Costa Victoria, Costa Favolosa, MSC Armonia, MSC Preziosa, MSC Meraviglia, Monarch, R5 Blue Dream, Silver Muse, Seabourn Quest, The World of Residensea and MS Kayamã river cruise), but today it's hard to find collectors to trade cards with me. :loudcry:

I have a set of postcards in a round wooden box from the inaugural Carnival Vista cruise season in the Mediterranean.

  3. There is a big advantage to some of the older smaller ships! They tend to have larger bathrooms and esp showers. Esp HAL with the combo shower & tub. The ships

Are Getting way to big and not Enjoyable at times.

On the Sunshine...balcony bathrooms are strange. Toilet sits at an angle and my husband said he had to stand (or sit) with one of his size 15's in the shower.

  4. We were on the Sunshine the week before...high winds the whole time - get used to the rockin' 'n rollin'. I was sick the night before St Martin and had been collecting some coin charms offered at by a jeweler at each port but didn't feel well enough to take the water taxi. Hoping someone on this sailing might help me out and mail me one?

  5. Thanks for the suggestions - I am the one inquiring about tours that will allow us to see the sights from a bus or van with stops where my husband can sit on the bus or on a bench while I go around and take pictures and see the things I enjoy.

We do this on most of our trips and it works well, but this seems to be a more physically challenging area as even the bus tours say "difficult with lots of walking". If those drop off and pick up at the same place, we can handle how much walking he can tolerate (and how far away I can get to look around and still find my way back) as long as walking isn't the primary part of the tour.

Ideally we look for a bus or van to drive us around and make periodic short stops where I can get out and explore and he can find a place to sit and wait for me.

  6. We are about to go on our 2nd free cruise of the year - courtesy of our casino play.

5000 points - no - we didn't gamble $5,000. BUT we did cycle thru that much. Last night of the cruise there was a "bounce-back" offer for a free inside cabin.

While on the freebie, we also earned a free cruise which we will take in August.

In addition to racking up the 5000 points on your card you must NOT have a Carnival cruise already booked.

This will be a working cruise - I go to the shows and DH works on earning a free cruise from the casino.

  7. So, I keep seeing this question come u and don't recall getting a definitive answer.

When going ashore - take your passport or leave it in the safe?

Not asking your personal habit.... what is the correct thing to do?

WIth S&S car and driver's license or other photo id you're okay to get back on ship and Carnival covers for you if there's a problem with authorities.

BUT what if I miss the ship and have to get to the next port - or break my leg and have to fly home from that port?

I know Carnival (or whatever line) issues the S&S card and has your passport information and have always felt that is all I need. In fact, they have said lock it up in your safe and only had them tell me to take it on an excursion when I was going to go into Canada on our Alaska cruise.

  8. And...guess what?

I have always been able to order off the daily menu or plan ahead with my waiter for something not on the menu....on Carnival ships. Your approach is often the key to getting special or even expected service anywhere.

Approaching as if it is an entitlement is not the way to do it....OP mentions having made a comment so the head waiter would overhear....not the best approach, for sure. Sometimes you haave to read between the lines on these posts....afterall this incident caused the OP to title this thread what?

Also not the best approach....unless you're looking for flaming feedback

  9. Going to Alaska in July....last time we missed whale sightings from the ship as we were not among those with binoculars or even a decent camera zoom.

    Anyone have a recommendation?

I want lightweight for portability, but want something decent at an affordable price....and, yes...I wear glasses, if I need to take that into consideration.

  10. Boarding the ship was not difficult in Cozumel. We had missed are early seating dinner, so we showered and went up to the Paris restaurant for dinner. I have to say this was my first time eating dinner on a cruise ship at the buffet and I was not impressed with the selection or the food. I found out later that some in our group inquired about eating at the late seating and were allowed to go to the dining room and were seated at empty seats. I had never heard of this before. The dinner menu this night was very good and I was sorry I missed it. After dinner I wondered around the ship, did a little shopping and stopped at the casino.

One thing they did have tonight was the Mexican buffet and deck party. We went to check it out and found mostly the teen crowd at the party. I think it may have been because this was spring break.

The towel animal we received tonight.

Really? didn't like the buffet??? That is where we believe Carnival SHINES above the other lines. Good variety - good quality - well-organized - and HOT.

  11. RCL - stuffy, unfriendly, but very pretty ships

CCL - great food and fun - and more friendly passengers and crew

Princess - food is awful - ship is pretty - the least helpful crew, unless you complain loudly and then they snap to and make you feel special.

If pricing is a high priority (it is with us) - prefer the bang for the buck that I get with CCL.

  12. I bought a bracelet with 5 charms on Carnival for $24, but don't like the bracelet. May have to look at this one when I'm on the Golden to see if these other charms fit....and maybe buy a couple more charms while I'm at it!!

Thanks so much for scanning these in!
