My wife and I don't drink alcohol, but do drink soda, the free drink package tips are more that just buying a soda package, but the free soda package is super cheap, I have tried in the past to argue my case with NCL, but with no luck, was wondering if anyone has had luck just getting the soda package free when over 21?
I did for my daughter and her boyfriend. I had them remove the alcohol package from our cruise. So don't have to pay the gratuities. Then I just bought the soda package for them. Not free but cheaper than keeping the alcohol package

Interesting. I wasn't aware of that, though I would never bring my own wine onboard. I'm not that picky 🙂
When do they assess the corkage fee? That might be a reason to purchase the package up front versus on the ship.
In all my years of cruising on various lines, I have never once been charged a corking fee for wine I have brought on board.

My husband did this when we sailed on the original Mardi Gras for our honeymoon. Lots of fun.

How much for a taxi from Castries to Rodney bay or can we take a local bus? If so, where do we pick bus up and get of in Rodney bay?

Hi Everyone -
Just wondering if anyone has flown non-rev to catch a cruise outside the US before and what your experience was like? We were thinking of trying it for a cruise out of Southampton, UK and would plan on trying to fly over a few days early to allow for not getting our 1st or 2nd choice on flight. Not worried about the flight home, just getting there. It would be with Delta but curious about anyone's experience.
My husband and I flew standby on Air Canada to Venice for a cruise out of Bari Italy in May of this year. We flew Friday night. Stayed overnight in Rome and took a train to the cruise port Sun morning. It was stressful. I am not sure I would do standby again for overseas. Good luck.

any info on 11222 on Divina. I have been upgraded from an inside to this cabin.
-
I called MSC a couple of months ago and they said it could not be pre-purchased.
Kim
thank you for the response. we will be sure to check this out once on board in March
-
We sail on her on the 3rd march not our favourite line but we do it because the prices, & itinerary are very good
Also we would rather pay $22 a day for a drinks package than $49
Enjoy.

My husband and I will be joining you on this cruise. It will be our 1st MSC cruise. We have sailed Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Princess. Looking forward to a change.

Booked Divina in March with a Guarantee Inside and also just got the Balcony upgrade to 13145. I am sailing solo and can't wait to enjoy the sunrises from my balcony.
we too Booked Divina in March with a Guarantee Inside and also just got the Balcony upgrade to 11222. Excited to have a large balcony. It will be our 1st MSC cruise.

Don't most cruise lines use salt water in the pools? Just imagine having to hold enough water to fill a pool or to filter/desalinate enough salt water to make it fresh water...
Salt water makes it easier to float your boat too :p
Ruby Princess and NCL Epic both had fresh water pools
-
Are the pools salt water or fresh water on the Divina?
-
Had an online chat with an MSC agent, who confirmed that a package is available for $40/cabin, which seems like an awesome price to me.
Can this be purchased pre cruise or just on board
-
How much does this package cost? Can you purchase this package pre-cruise? If not, where do I purchase once on board?
-
Absolutely! Three yrs. ago their rep at the Meet & Greet emphasized that MSC was new to this market and give it time to improve. Here we are 3 yrs. later and they still haven't cleaned up their act. I don't think that the big wigs in Italy get it. Anyway, I had a deposit down on a cheap cruise but after my first cruise I cancelled it. I think you are lucky to get out while the getting is good. And take it from me, MSC no way, no how compares with Princess if you aren't sailing Yacht Club class.
I am sailing on my 1st MSC cruise in March, willing to give something new a try. I have sailed Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Princess. And Princess is my least favorite of them all. So goes to show, to each his own.

thank you for the replies. Guess we will have to find something else to do late night.

Is there much late night Comedy on the Divina? We enjoy the comedy shows on Carnival and NCL.

Hi CarlaMasterson there's already a Roll Call set up for this cruise and you may want to join the group to get a feel of what to expect: http://www.cruisecritic.com/rollcalls/msc-divina-march-4-2017/
Feel free to ask questions regarding MSC but also read the "sticky" available here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2224649
Skier52 (Pete) has included so much great information here you'll gain a lot of great intelligence by reading the whole thread.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Thanks so much I will check it out.

SPORTS DECK.
Here you have the basketball court:
They also have the trampoline air jump and the spider web climbing thingy.
Is there a cost for the trampoline and the spider climbing thing?

The iConcierge app was fantastic for smartphones. I was able to call my room and other connected cell phones, and text other connected cell phones. $10 for the device whole trip. Made planning with other cruisers easier.

Wasn't aware there was a charge to use IConierge app. Each device would need to pay $ 10.00?

Carnival was leaving...
Obviously I was trying out my new camera and settings.
So we had checked out each others rooms and put our things down to lighten the load. Our luggage was not at our rooms yet so it was time to head up to the pool deck and to the bar. We REALLY needed a drink at this point and time to relax a little.
I believe this will be the first cruise that Kolin is "legal" and gets the drink package. He's 22 now and his last cruise he was a month shy of turning 21 last year and I still had to sign for him to drink beer/wine. So, he's happy.
In case any of you wondered...my family are not drinkers. They only time we ever drink is on a special occasion (like at a birthday dinner or maybe a drink on New Years Eve and the kids will have a drink at a bar every so often to celebrate a relatives birthday) or....when we are on a cruise with NCL, that offers the drink package. Then we are sometimes like kids in a candy store making up for lost time. (j/k, or am I?) This cruise, Kolin will completely de-plenish the entire supply of Angry Orchard on the entire ship. I'm almost sure he singlehandedly did this on his own (by Thursday I believe). LOL Yes, we take advantage of this package, then we will probably never touch another drink until the next cruise. No we are not drunk drinkers either and never get out of hand. Well, maybe Billy sometimes, but he's the exception of the group and moma bear has to put him in his place every so often.
This was before he discovered the ship had angry orchards. He hates Budweiser....but put on a happy face for the picture. LOL
Cruising on Dec 3rd with 19 yr old(legal here in Canada) that I will be signing for. Is Angry Orchard part of the beer/wine that she would be allowed to order? She doesn't like beer or wine but likes cider.

Thank you for the bus information. Where is this Dolphin Experience?
Thanks, we'll have to check it out!
-
Do not take a cab. It will cost you $8.00 a person. Take a bus to there for $2.50 a person. I believe the busses have green license plates. Don't be fooled as many taxis and busses are the same types of vans. I believe the bus stop is across the street from the port but you will see busses sitting right at the port but the are taxi's.
Once you leave the turtle farm you go to the road and turn right and walk 10ft to the bus stop that looks like the ones in America. They will stop when they see a person sitting there if they have room. They will also let you off where you want if its on the route. It's about 15-20 each way.
Also you can go into the Dolphin Experience for free. You can't do anything but watch or shop but you can still see the dolphins. When you walk in they have people standing there at computers and it will appear that you have to pay but you can say that you want to go and look and they have no problem with it.
Thank you for the bus information. Where is this Dolphin Experience?

How far is the Turtle farm from the cruise port? Is it best to take the bus or get a cab? How much time should we allow there to tour everything?

I have checked on the NCL app and I can’t find sample menus for the main dining rooms. If anyone has pictures of the daily menus and could post I would appreciate
