THANKS DAVE!! It was WONDERFUL to "take" the cruise along with you!!!:D
-
Dave,
Thanks so much!! It's almost as good as going on the cruise! Almost.
I love the way you told us a little about everything. You're a good blogger. What a nice gift you gave us all.

I'll be faithfully following your progress, as we're doing this cruise in March, too. What did you find to do in St. Vincent? I'm coming up dry there. Never been to many of the Saints on this trip, either, which is part of why we chose it.

And here I thought I was being helpful.. providing a link to all the common abbreviations!
If I couldn't be bothered I would not have responded at all :D
Oh, well, in THAT case . . . :o

Sticky on HAL boards: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1296222
Did you not know the answer, or just couldn't be bothered, Peter? Just wondered.

It means "If I recall correctly".
Thanks Sail!:)

IIRC, the muster time has been 4:30 PM. Sail away at 5:00 PM.
What does IIRC mean, please???

I remember it was 1972 in December and it went from Miami to the Bahamas, Freeport and Nassau, but don't recall the ship or line. Boyfriend booked it. It had twin beds that were bolted to the floor. We made do. ;-)

ZERO! Porters at US ports are UNION employees. They already make $75,000 plus a year. If they insist for a tip ask to to see a supervisor. Listed their sites.

There's always one . . .

My mom used to get extremely swollen ankles and into her feet every time we cruised. We could never figure it out. We live in Florida, so we didn't have to fly before-hand and we were used to the heat and humidity. She didn't use the patch or take any different medications. They would get so swollen walking was a problem. We always attributed it to higher sodium levels in cruise food, but I don't know if that was really the answer. She would just put her feet up whenever she could and that helped.
I've never noticed a problem myself, but my sister would also have ankle swelling the couple of times she's cruised. I've been left wondering what it could be and haven't found an answer that truly fits.

Hi All,
My wife and I have a little tradition on each cruise. We love to stand in front of the safe and turn off our cell phones, put them in the safe and know that there will be no work for the next 10 or so days. Is there any other type of vacation when you really have a chance to "get away from it all"?
B&B
We love to do the exact same thing. Turn off the cell phones and stick 'em in the safe and don't take them out til we're back! Heaven!!:D

Jonathan,
What's a churro? Some kind of pastry?? We're going to Cadiz, too, so I was real excited to read your posting on that stop. Thanks!

Jonathan, if you're not a professional writer, you should be. You write with a grace and style not often seen. I'm loving hearing about your trip!

Hi y'all,
Never having been on a cruise, we decided to go whole hog and booked a balcony cabin on the Radiance of the Seas. Not knowing if this is just the first in many cruises, or the last one, we figured why not be comfortable when in the cabin? We are on deck 7 at the back of the ship. Anyone have experience with cabin 7168?
Winnie
Hi Winnie,
You two are living our dream: "Where the RV is parked." That's what we want to say some day soon. I haven't been on Radiance, but you're gonna love a balcony cabin. Can we say "romantic?" We like to spend a lot of time in our cabin, so the space and location is important to us.
We're cruising in 3 days!! On the Westerdam to the Eastern Caribbean. When are you sailing?
We would also love to sail with a bunch of other lesbians! That would be WONDERFUL! Can we pull this off, ladies??

West Palm Beach here. :)

There's a message board elsewhere on the web for women who want to cruise with other women...I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say the name but if you search Google for "lesbian group cruises" (WITH the quotes) they are the 2nd result.
Got it. Great site. Registered our upcoming Westerdam cruise on the site. Anybody here going on the Westerdam 3/18/07???
Thanks so much for the tip!!

I had been on numerous cruises, but my wife-to-be hadn't ever cruised. So we took a honeymoon cruise on the Carnival Legend and had a blast!! My wife, DC, is 42 and I'm 57. We love cruising and are currently booked on the Westerdam 3/18/07. We took a cruise last year on Costa Magica with my mom. Would love to do a transatlantic. Really, we'd be happy to cruise ANYWHERE. We both just love being on the water, the relaxation of it, the romance, the shows, etc. etc.
We've looked into gay cruises, too, but they either seem very geared towards men (no offense guys) or it's Olivia who charge WAY TOO MUCH for the privilege of sailing with all women. We just can't justify the extra expense when we could do a couple cruises for what it would cost for one Olivia.
But, oh, we'd LOVE to cruise with other lesbian women. We always look around and sometimes we spot one or two couples. Wouldn't it be fun to be able to hook up through the boards and take a cruise together?
Thanks for starting this thread!

Thanks you two!! We have them in Delray Beach, but I've always called them "cabanas." They're perfect for those of us who can't take a lot of sun, but love the beach.

What about a sub-thread for the clam shell next to the Turquoise cabana?
So what, exactly, IS a clam shell? HAL's site doesn't really describe it and there's no photos. I reserved one, but don't know what I actually bought!

I did the Coki beach dive while in St. Thomas on a Princess cruise a couple of years ago and am planning on returning when on the Costa Magica cruise I've booked in March. Found them very friendly and helpful. Beach diving is soooo much less stressful than boat diving, at least I thought so. But I'm one of those once or twice a year. The Coki people will pick you right up at the dock and it's easy to book with them yourself from their website. The price is definitely right, too!
Have fun! :)
