OK so I don't want to sound like a Nervous Nelly, but, well, you know.  So for anyone who has been on a cruise while skirting a hurricane, just how rough can I expect the seas to be?  I'm on the Carnival Sunshine leaving tomorrow out of Charleston for a 4 night, current itinerary calls for port in Princess Cays on Saturday.  Thoughts?

In 2017 I was on a cruise that basically followed Hurricane Franklin. Each port we went to had just been affected by the storm just hours before our arrival. It was kind of a rough ride. They had the barf bags out in the main hallways for people to grab. I remember sitting at dinner and seeing my water move from side to side more than normal.

Bring some dramamine just in case!

  2. Hey everybody, I leave on the 19th.....before booking THIS cruise, I had been on the Sensation back in April. Because of a medical emergency we missed Ocho Rios. This was is supposed to be my "make-up" cruise since I have never been to Mahogany Bay.

When I booked in June, I knew they were having problems and sent an email to Carnival expressing my concerns about missing a port once again. I was stunned to receive a call back!! I was assured that barring weather, or a "new" problem arises, we would be making all the ports on the scheduled itinerary.

I am really hoping they were not able to tender due to weather, as the Yucatan did just get pounded by a tropical storm. This can cause some rough seas for quite awhile.

If anybody has some new news??? I am currently on hold with Carnival.......

I just returned from the 5 day cruise to Mahogany Bay and Cozumel on the Paradise. Despite Tropical Storm Franklin we made it to BOTH ports. If you are leaving on the 19th, unless there's a new tropical disturbance, it should be an alright ride down there.
