  1. Is free unlimited internet the new norm for certainly loyalty levels, or are they only doing it because of the medallion rollout issues? We have unlimited on the Regal this spring, but on the CB this summer, we did not.

The letter we got on ship says “During your preview cruise, MedallionNet is available at...” They then give the prices and mention that Platinum/Elite are complimentary.

  2. Are those prices for the social, surfing or streaming package?

I’m using it for browsing the Internet, posting pictures on FB, texting and email. I never use streaming (even at home) but don’t see any restrictions on how I use it. Speed is decent but no idea if it would support streaming.

  3. I’m currently on the Regal for the 9-22-18 cruise and MedallionNet is “complimentary for our Platinum & Elite guests (one device per guest)”. Otherwise it’s $9.99 per device per day (for a 24 hour period) when purchased for the entire voyage. Also, $29.99 for up to 4 devices (for a 24 hour period) charged to the same stateroom folio. These are for “your preview cruise”.

  4. We did an Eastern Caribbean on the Regal Princess back in Dec. '15. We were in cabin E731, a Deluxe Premium Balcony. Both cabins face aft and yours is toward the port side while ours was towards starboard. I don't remember any issues with noise or soot. I looked at our pictures but couldn't find any of the cabin or the balcony. We spent a lot of time on the balcony going in and out of ports as well as on sea days. Enjoy your Pacific Wine Country cruise. We did that from Vancouver to LA in Sep '16.

  5. I think it's better on certain places of the ship. Hard to get a connection on the aft.

Last November we were on the Regal in an aft cabin, A628. I believe this was the 1st cruise using Ocean Medallion but only a few cabins used the Medallion. Not us. We were given FREE internet for the entire cruise and it wasn't too hard to make a connection from our aft cabin. I would have thought things would have gotten better connectivity-wise since that time.

  6. Taormina ....... Do not know if it was related to our party declining our drivers offer to visit his favorite cannoli shop back in town or not.

We were in Taormina and Messina last July and had a great time! Our driver also offered us a visit to his favorite cannoli shop and he was buying! All 6 of us went with him and enjoyed the BIGGEST and best cannoli's we've ever tasted. As you ordered they would put the filling in the cannoli. It took both hands to hold since it was so big. My only regret was not taking a picture of how big they were. Regardless of how big they were, none of them lasted long as each of us scarfed it down as quickly as we could. The store we stopped at was called Laboratorio Pasticceria Gelateria and if we ever return to Messina we will be sure to stop again!

  7. I was really looking forward to visiting the Bardo... but can't see myself doing it now. We're scheduled to be there in July on the Emerald Princess, I'm wondering if Princess will schedule another port now?

We were on the Ruby Princess in October 2013 and scheduled to visit Tunis. At the time I wasn't sure that I'd go ashore in Tunis. I said I'd probably make a final decision the day we arrived in port. About a month or so before the cruise we received notice from Princess that they were dropping Tunis and adding Malta. We really loved our stop in Malta.

  8. Great move grabbing 2 glasses of champagne - 1 for you and 1 for mom. Are you sure you didn't know mom wasn't a fan of champagne? ;) Too bad you were "forced" to finish off her glass.

When they're having people pouring the champagne I'm guessing they don't let them hold it because they're concerned someone might drop the bottle and the whole champagne waterfall would collapse.

  9. Trying to get a review of the British Isles cruise that the Ruby Princess is doing this year. Can't seem to find one. New itinerary or new ship doing the itinerary? Any help locating this would be great.

I see someone already pointed you to DeloreanGirl's review. Here are a few more reviews I found while researching this cruise.

  10. My problem is getting to the Princess site. I normally use the Firefox browser but after an update a few weeks ago all I get is "Princess is temporarily unavailable" when I try to log on. If I use Internet Explorer everything works fine. I look at my saved cruises daily and when using Internet Explorer I've had no problems.

  11. We will be in London for 6 days in early June with our 17 year old sons and need to know the appropriate dress options. Here they wear shorts and a collared polo shirt most if not all the time. I have never been to London and no idea what any if us should wear! Thanks

Check out the info on this page: http://www.london.climatemps.com/june.php

The average high for June in London is 68°F with an average low of 52°F.

  12. [quote name='gr82cu2']Have you read this live cruise report from a few years ago? It's fascinating with many, many pictures. Ends up kinda sad though :( It cured me from any thoughts of a very long cruise. But, it definitely gave me some ideas for must see places eventually.

  13. Last October we were on the Ruby Princess scheduled for a stop in Tunisia. About a month before cruise we were notified that Tunisia was cancelled and we would stop in Valletta, Malta instead. We really enjoyed our day in Malta!

On Sept 9, 2013 they sent this: "Please be advised that due to current political unrest in Tunisia, Ruby Princess' call to La Goulette (Tunis) on October 7, 2013, has been cancelled and replaced with a call to Valletta from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm on the same day."

  14. Princess is about to come out with the 2015 Med cruises and I need help! First time to the Med and not sure which itinerary offers the "best" ports.

Between these ports, which would you choose?

Kotor, Sanotrini, Heraklion, Athens, Rhodes, Kusadasi

This would be my choice. We were in Santorini in '12 and loved it! I've read many great things about Kusadasi and that's on my list for the next Med cruise. I want to go back to Heraklion since I was there with the US Navy in 1970 and want to see it again.

Last October I was on the Ruby and we were scheduled to visit Tunis. About a month before the cruise Princess notified us that they were dropping Tunis due to security concerns and instead we'd be stopping at Valletta, Malta. So keep in mind you might not end up in Tunis if you pick that itinerary.

  15. I think there are message boards as you enter the security area of Port Everglades that shows what ship is docked at what pier for that day. Usually they're on the right side of the road near where the security guards check you over.

  16. On a serious note though:

Go check out the top of the bridge. It's very neat to be up there and see the view the capt is seeing and you feel like Kate Winslet in Titanic (minus the boat going under). On the CB it was between decks 15 and 16 and I believe you had to use deck 15 as far fwd as you could and then a half staircase up.

I loved going up on top of the bridge but on my last 2 cruises that area was closed for the entire cruise. In port or out, windy day or calm. One day even one of the ships photographers was surprised to find that area closed off. I'll try getting up there once again on my next cruise. Hopefully this time it will be open!
