  1. Not everyone in the "party", and certainly not under-aged folks. Only those within a cabin, so if you have 2 people who want a package, and the rest don't, book them in a cabin together....then switch cabins when you board. This is perfectly ok to do, and it's done all the time.
so if we have 3 adults in a cabin we have to pay 3 times
  2. After doing 2 Thompson Discovery cruises we are looking for a change of scenery ship wise.

As the Discovery is all inclusive we haven't needed to worry about drinks packages.

This appears to be very cloak and dagger regarding finding out what the price is.

Can anyone give me a dummies guide to what's what?

  3. We had to wait on the boat until 5pm in the evening on Discovery last year. Several cabins remain open through the day so you can have a shower. All the AI facilities can be used while on the boat. (It's horrible though seeing the boat fill up with people just starting their cruise)

  4. You will be spoilt for choice as far as eating goes. The Island buffet has a varied selection of food and it's different every day. Then you have 47 and Gallery 47 which gives you a waiter service with an Italian themed menu.

If you want to pay a bit extra then there 2 more area's (names escape me) although we never felt we needed to use these as the food is so nice in the other areas.

All inclusive is great you are given a credit card at the start of the cruise which you use to get on and off the ship. It is also used to make any purchases on board. Most drinks are free but check as some carry an extra charge. Bizarrely water is not free.

  5. I don't think that particular tour goes into the colosseum. We went on the Inside Piza and Rome tour which did.

One thing to note is that there is only one stop on the way there and if I told you that the queue for the ladies almost went back to the ship would not be an understatement.

If your kids don't mind go for the St Paul De Vince tour. Beautiful.

  6. Wow are you in for a great time.

We did this last year and it was amazing.

Don't worry about the length of excursions as if they are booked through Thomson the ship will not leave until you are back, although the tour guides love to make jokes about people becoming Italian citizens due to not getting back in time.

The ship docks literally 10mins from Las Rambles in Barcelona. Just hop on the shuttle from the ship. If you want to cram as much of Barca in as possible then get a ticket for the open top bus that takes you pretty much around the whole of the city. Please note though that it feels like there are about 20 people per sq mtr throughout the whole place.

Ajjacio is a lovely place. We hopped on the little land train and went up to Napoleons monument then went to the beach.

    Rome stunning end of.

  7. If you haven't pre booked your rooms you may not get rooms together.

If you want a great waiter service experience then gallery 47 is a must. Just book your table during the day and turn up and you will be looked after like royalty.

I'm back on in Sept and literally am bursting with excitement.

You are going to have a fantastic time.
