  1. Does anyone have any experience of Carnival pre charging your credit card on a cruise? We recently returned from a week on Carnival Magic and almost $500 of charges have shown up on our credit card on top of the full amount of our final bill. We were told it should be cleared within 5 days but that was a week ago.

  2. Thanks very much for the review Leo, been reading and keeping up with posts for a couple of weeks and although i am really sorry you were sick on the cruise i am also pleased that you did get to enjoy at least part of it and that you are all better.

Its really good to hear other peoples opinions on things, be they good or bad, these things are subjective and you are entitled to have your own opinion, whenever i read anyones views of things I always take this into consideration, and I appreciate you taking the time to let us know how, you coped with being ill on board ship and how you enjoyed what was left of your cruise

We are really looking forward to joining the Breeze in May x

  3. After tips on this board about 12 months ago I am now hooked on Debbie Macomber, Jeanne Ray, Janet Evanovich and Sandra Hill.

The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich and the Jinx series by Sandra Hill, had me getting a few funny looks as I read them by the pool. They are very much laugh-out-loud books and very enjoyable lighthearted reading, ideal for cruising. I can't wait to read more:)

  4. I read about 140 books a year....My favorite has been the "Outlander" series by Dianna Gabladon (it's late, not sure of spelling) Her books are history, romance, adventure and just fantastic! There are 6 books, dont let the large number of pages scare you off, and I ask only to read until page 51 and if you dont love it, dont finish it (I have told a lot of "readers" and no one has not loved it! Happy Reading!

I'm another one who loves these books, they're hard to put down.

I also like the earth's children books by Jean M Auel, thie first one is a little slow, but the next 4 are fantastic.

  5. I've already posted in this thread to say how we cruise so much because I nearly lost my DH, but this post isn't so much about me.

My SIL had breast cancer a couple of years ago, which was treated but came back, and then was treated again successfully, and she was a brick through it all. Having beaten that, imagine our shock, when she collapsed with heart failure a week gone Saturday, she currently has no brain activity and has been given, no positive outlook whatsoever, it's just a matter of time. She is 46years old, and has a 22 year old DD who is getting married next year, and also a 24 year old son.

Life is so unpredictable, you have to take what you can, while you can. You never know how long you have it for.

  6. My DH almost died of a massive heart attack 3 years ago, he survived by the sheer luck that he had been having "niggles" and had gone for a check up, so was at hospital when it struck.

We used to take 1 cruise a year, but now non-essential spends can wait, the house will still be here long after we are gone, so we get away as often as we can, preferably cuising. We now have loads of wonderful memories of things we have done or tried, and not one penny of it will have been poorly spent.

  7. Jean M Auel (Earths children series)

    Diana Gabaldon (Forever Autumn series)

Nora Roberts (any for a, lose yourself "light" read)

Paolini (aim at teens but good read)

Jk Rowling (surprisingly adaptable as an adult read)

    Barbera Erskin

    Lord of the rings

    Antony Horowitz (circle of five)

I know it's a strange and eclectic selection, but if it's a good story, I'll read it, I'm definitely going to try Hiasson
