You have to understand that Royal Caribbean has worked very hard to earn its reputation for being consistently inconsistent. Now that it has finally earned that reputation, it is not about to give it up easily.
LOL! Truer words were never spoken!;p

I have sailed with my grandchildren 5 and 8 and have been allowed in the lounge. They share a chair and are aware of the privilege of the lounge. We sit and talk quietly about our day and what we have to look forward to. Personally I would take well behaved children over obnoxious loud inebriated adults any day!
It is really annoying when people use the " I would rather have kids than loud, drunk adults" approach to this issue. I have been in many Diamond and Concierge lounges and have very rarely, if ever seen any loud, drunken adults in these venues. I have never sailed Carnival, though which is noted in this poster's sig., so maybe that is the difference!?

Did this cruise July 9-21 (same as Papa flamingo above). Would agree with everything he said. We used Alla tours(they take of of visas) and were very pleased. Long days ,but well worth it. Also, check your roll call for someone lining up a tour. That is where we found our St. Pete tour(s). We got a great discount and Alla also discount any other tours you book with them in the other ports on this cruise. Weather was cool in July, actually,a couple of days pretty chilly, IMO. Dress in layers...a windbreaker and/or a fleece jacket would be good to have. It is a wonderful cruise! Enjoy!:D

Totally agree with the above post. Unless the rules (ie. no more than 10 for MTD) have changed recently, I would ask for, even INSIST upon a ROUND table. We had a group your size and similar configuration (kids and adults), and this worked perfectly for us. Everyone could see everyone else and conversation was easy. Hope you have a wonderful family cruise!:D
