I've booked last minute cruises twice and had the Shareholder's benefit applied at the Purser's Desk, once on board.

Hi Marc,
I, too, travel solo on Crystal, and have always been made to feel welcome. I'll be doing a back-to-back on Serenity in November/December this year, but am now tempted to book a Christmas/New Year cruise on Silver Muse, as well. I recently received a mailing stating that the single supplement has been reduced to 10% so it seems like a good time to try this line. They're also offering $1,000 on-board credit, but, like Crystal, it's difficult to spend this when everything is included.
I'll let you know if I'm a convert when I return in January.

Thanks for the information. I look forward to meeting Viktoria tomorrow. You can tell her that sisters Wendy and Trudi will be occupying 203. Bon Voyage to you - hope you enjoy your stay in Vienna.
-
Oh, balls....:(
-
Thank you for the pictures. My sister and I will be moving into #203 as you vacate, so do leave any chocolates that you don't want!
-
Are you planning to offer cruises on the Rhone? If so, when?
-
Dear Edie,
Many of us cruise with Crystal to enjoy the skill of your gentlemen hosts on the dance floor. However, recently Crystal has been booking these gentlemen through an agency and the standard has dropped considerably. Please would you go back to checking their individual credentials in-house, so we may once again enjoy being whirled around the dance floor? Thank you.

So pleased you'll be using valuable drinking time to blog, Anne. I trust your judgement, so will be very interested in your first impressions - warts and all. I'm not sure that a river cruise is a good fit for me, but I'm sure it will be more luxurious than my Irrawaddy adventure.
Look forward to hearing all about it - bon voyage. x

For me its dress and dining. If I can not start dinner around 6pm I will not go and if the dress code is too formal I will not go. An example of this is Cunard. Living in NYC I would love to take the Queen Mary however the dress code keeps me off!
I travel to/from NYC on the QM2 every year, and have noticed how the dress code has relaxed. Only three of the evenings are now deemed formal, whereas passengers used to be expected to dress for dinner every evening. It is such an elegant ship that it would spoil the ambiance if it become 'country casual' like so many others. I do recommend it for transatlantic voyages, rather than flying. There is so much to do on board that one doesn't miss the ports of call. My next trip, on 1st September has a 'Fashion' theme to coincide with Fashion Week in NYC.

Milk is all UHT - it has to be for storage. I buy a pint of fresh at the first port to keep in the refrigerator.

Thank you so much for posting your blog and photos. I shall be taking this trip on the Princess Panhwar in September, so it has been very useful to know what I'll have in store.

Crystal use to provide pillow chocolates. However, they would often find them all left in a drawer at the end of a cruise. This was wasteful, so they discontinued them. Suites receive a box of chocolates, and, if requested, chocolate truffle petit fours are always available at the end of dinner. A chocolate fountain with fruit is provided at the Bistro late at night. No need to go without your regular chocolate fix.

Although other amenities may be considered below par, QM2's daytime 'enrichment' activities compare well with Crystal's. See Canuker's post "QM2: All 8 days' events, in one file."
-
It was certainly a busy schedule. I missed the glorious sunshine as there was so much to do and see on that crossing. Calmest seas I've ever encountered on the QM2.

I think that's much less true now that Cunard has been moving the clock at noon Eastbound.
Roy
So pleased to hear that, Roy. I'll be sailing eastbound next month, thinking the downside was losing an hour each night, as I did in June on Crystal Symphony.

Roy Walker is a comedian?

I've had an E obstructed-view cabin on Nautica before. Plenty of natural light but no view on sea days. BUT, plenty of tendered ports of call, where the lifeboats disappeared by magic. Be careful when undressing by the window....sometimes you'll be faced by a crew member smiling back at you!

Please can someone tell me if the currency used is sterling £ or do Falklands have their own currency? No point in my changing £ into $ if I can use sterling there. Thanks

The stockbroker information is on your share certificate. I found out that Stockperks needed to see this, via the App, to verify proof of ownership before I could access Cunard.
