  1. Here's what I do.

Give your cabin Steward a $20 at the beginning of the cruise. You will never be happier.

Give the bartender at the pool bar a $20 when you first get on board. they will remember you ALWAYS and will never wait for a cocktail.

I have even gotten cocktails when the bar isnt open yet because of this. I got a snickers bar in my Bloody Mary, skewers of shrimp, bacon....nobody else did.

  2. You are good. No worries on the dress. I have had dinner in shorts / t shirt before in most restaurants.

If you have one , may consider a jacket over that shirt for the "formal nite" which is usually the 2nd night. But its optional. I havent done formal nite in 8 cruises and been fine. If that is you in the photo, then you will be fine. You seem to have some fashion sense. Dress Smartly.

Just be comfortable and enjoy yourself.

  3. the espresso machine was nice to have access to. Never tried the wine machine. and the little danish in the a.m. was good too. A tad disappointed that they didnt have the made to order omelet bar going.

in the late afternoon, Was a little disappointed that they didnt have someone serving the canapes in the lounge. How gauche. they simply left the tray on the tables and you had to serve yourself.

I thought the Lobster and cracked crab was a nice touch, as well as the beluga caviar that they set up every afternoon.

the whole pig roast was a bit much on day 2, and really crowded up the lounge.

By day 6 the novelty wore off, and the crew was a bit tired. Snack was a bag of cheetos, and a bowl of skittles.

  4. The Grammy experience was where they would assign a 75 yr old to sit next to you all cruise long.

She would complain about everything, especially the heat, her arthritis, those "damn kids running around", and how the TV in the room doesnt have Wheel Of Fortune.

She would want to only play bingo, and would have dinner promptly at 4pm every day so that she could go to bed by 7:30pm.

  5. To the original writer,

I completely agree....sleeping in is MUCH MUCH better.

For day of embarkation, I recommend sleeping in until about 3pm. Take a quick shower then run as fast as you can to the Port. You get to sleep in, should just make the Ship by 4pm, and you will get your daily Cardio in at the same time....BONUS!!!

For the day of disembarkation, I recommend sleeping in until they bang on your door and literally drag you off the Ship. After all, you paid for your trip, and by God, you should be able to enjoy every stinking minute of it.

  6. it is utterly ridiculous of the OP to suggest changing the port simply on how 1 person feels.

I think this is a fabulous opportunity to experience a country's political evolution and even possibly participate in it.

they should come up with an excursion or three that focuses specifically on the protests and riots.

Maybe even have one that gives you signs to carry, flags to wave, and even torches.

Lets all get arrested in Barcelona!!!

    Viva Catalonia!!!!

  7. Cash is soooo overrated and everyone does it.

I like to give something personal. i get a refrigerator magnet or two from one of the ports and give that as a tip.

After all....who doesnt need a refrigerator magnet....its the gift that keeps on giving !!!!
