  1. As an alcoholic with 19 years of recovery, I'd have been a bit annoyed at having an alcoholic beverage ONLY as the gesture from the captain.

Having been on the Splendor a time or two, I agree with your assessment. I'm glad you had a good time making lemonade from lemons. We'll be on that ship this time next year. Thanks for your review. :)

Hi interesting ... I am the same as you ... 22 years... I just wanted a coke! Lol

    Thanks for your response!!!

  2. Not a generous offer of (strictly) wine or beer to calm the nerve of displeased passengers. At least there were some pros on your cruise.

Will appreciate a feedback on their response to your letter.

    .

They got a lot right... we rebooked right away same itinerary in march ... by then they should be going back to eastern ports... I'm not a carnival hater but they really made me mad with that token gesture

  3. PRO :

    1. Ship is very nice. "The Pink Ship" ...only noticed that getting on after that it was just a beautiful ship.
    2. The Steak House ($ add-on) was Awesome. New wait staff so they were kind of unsure of themselves but the steaks were UNBELIEVABLY AWESOME!!! WORTH EVERY DIME!!!!
    3. MDR waiters were incredible. How they keep up that level of enthusiasm and energy on their contracts is unbelievable. Best service on the ship!!! We ate at the Golden Pearl.
    4. LIDO Deck Buffet and all food services... If you cant find something you like, you really aren't hungry. Plenty of open hours too... By the second day I realized I had eaten 6 times each day and if I hadn't slowed down I would have been dead by day 8. It was an 8 day cruise...need to pace oneself!
    5. The Grill burgers,Hot Dogs Chicken breast sandwiches and fries... a lot of people don't care for that type of food... but.... I ate a LOT of Hot Dogs with Chili and Cheeseburgers. Good stuff!!! (I did not say healthy I said good)
    6. CD Mark Q was everywhere all the time and he made a lot of people happy. My wife and I are more sedentary and were happy to sit and chill out. But He really did a superb job.
    7. This was our first Carnival cruise and we had always heard that Carnival is the party boat cruise line that is a fact. And the fun is what we made it but if you like a party on crowd...this is the cruise for you.

I'm sure there is more I haven't recalled but If you want to know something just ask here.

    CON:

    1. Supposed to be an 8 day Eastern Carib with awesome ports. Hurricanes changed all that. I get that. We had Princes Cay Bahamas, Ocho Rios Jamaica, Grand Cayman and were scheduled to go to Cozumel.
    2. On Princess Cay something went wrong. They only had 3 tenders for 3000 plus passengers and we had a HUGE line to get food on the island (staff?) Carnivals mistake because that night the Captain announced that they hadn't done so well and that each passenger would be given a glass of wine or beer compliments of the Captain for our inconvenience. My wife and I don't drink and I asked if I could have a free soda instead and was told no. Beer or Wine. That's what the Captain said that's what we could have. I took the wine and gave it away. That night I almost poured it out on the floor. That was truly cheesy.
    3. Port number 2 Ocho Rios.. you gotta love the waterfalls or walk around being hounded by locals wanting to sell us tours and rides. Margaritaville to me was nice. Pricey but nice anyway. Nuff said. Grand Cayman. I REALLLLLLLLY lioked Grand Cayman but the 7 mile beach doesn't have that chamber of commerce glistening water when it is overcast and rainy. Which it was when we were there. Still it is a really nice place.
    4. Next stop Cozumel... Nope TS Nate took care of that. so it was 2 at sea days and home we went.
    5. Considering that we were originally to go to Eastern Carib ports, and Carnival really goofed up Princes Cay, I think they should have found another port to take us to. An extra day in Crand Cayman? Montego Bay? Even Ocho Rios again. They never even tried. And none of those places had shipd in. This ship tracker app that is free allows you to see who is where at any point in time. Truth is Carnival met their legal obligations sand weren't going to spend another dime. That's fine for the Carnival bean counters BUT I cannot tell you how many people we met who said this was their first cruise and LAST cruise with Carnival. 4 days out of 8 at sea ... one port that was all screwed up by the cruise line. And a free glass of wine or beer for our trouble? And we were all booked to go to St Maarten, St Kitts, San Juan, and Grand Turk?? THey SHOULD HAVE done more.
    6. The Carnival WIFI, I purchased the "premium" package... It was terrible. Slow. You could get on at 5 am when 95 % of the passengers were sleeping but everything else was Slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Like Forest Gump would say "and that's all I have to say about that". The weather caused problems thst were not the Cruise lines fault. And they have a beautiful ship with lots to do and great eats. But they jumped the shark with the ports.

If Carnival thinks they did a good job on this cruise... The Ship, The Food, The Staff ... they did... But a glass of wine or beer for our trouble. That was a slap in the face. They didnt even try with a MAJOR rerouted itinerary. Shame on you!!!

I'm sending a letter to Carnival Corporate about that free wine/beer. That was absolutely tacky.

  4. Saturday Sep 30....Carnival Splendor ...the Port Everglades app shows departure from berth(?) 4. The closest bestest multi level parking garage for that would be ??? I'm 100% sure this will be well marked when we get there, but, I have 3 days to sit and wonder about these things. Any help for an old guy with too much free time on his hands would be greatly appreciated!!!

It used to be an Eastern Carib cruise ...Now it's a Western Carib one. As long as they don't forget the food, I don't care where we sail!!!

    Ready to go Bob.

  5. Anyone get a rescheduled itainary yet ??

    I haven't booked tickets still

As I'm really not wanting to go right now

And if we have to have a extra sea day then we will miss our flight back ..

    Errrrr

Never booking in the fall again ...

Received new itinerary yesterday ... Sep 30th Carnival Splendor 8 day Eastern Carib (St. Martin, St. Kitts, San Juan, Grand Turk) is now an 8 day West carib (Princess Cay, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman, Cozumel). We have ZERO recourse. A western carib cruise is actually cheaper than what we paid for. No refunds coming. It is an act of God and I get it that the cruise line has no control of that but to make such an extreme change... at least give us the option to rebook another time.

These ports will all be jammed with cruise ship passengers...I will be fine (bringing a really long big book)

    Never again.

  6. I have been checking , rechecking and checking again all day every day since I first heard of this FTTF add on. I have even called Carnival and pretty close to pleaded to get one of these packages. I don't think it's gonna happen. Still have 42 days but I'm not optimistic and my wife is looking at me funny now.

    Just saying .

  7. I just learned about this today. Booked back in mid July. I called Carnival and asked Why I had to learn about this from another website. Thought maybe she would budge and let me have it. Wasn't gonna happen though. So now where on the website am I going to be looking for possible openings?

  8. September 30 We are sailing on the Carnival Splendor 8 day east carib cruise. I have booked rooms for night before at Holiday Inn Express in Dania Beach as that seems closest to the terminals. Any suggestions? Our check in time is 12:00-12:30 and I am a stickler for being there as early as possible. We cruise but not often and I don't want to miss a moment . Any advice would be greatly appreciated. (We have never cruised out of Port Everglades so if you can help me from not making a wrong turn .. Thanks)

    Bob:cool: and Joan:)
