  1. Long story short. I booked 3 staterooms in May 2018 with Royal Caribbean. My wife and I recently found out she is pregnant and will be in her third trimester during the cruise. Also stateroom #2's partner is also expecting (she wasn't coming) and due like 1 week after our cruise. So we either need to cancel or change, and I'm trying to know what to expect when I call RCL.

5 total passengers, each having paid the $250 deposit. I have also bought a few drink, dining and internet packages as well.

I see there is $100 dollar change requests per guest. We did sign up for the Vacation Protection Plan through royal, but not sure if this will cover us. Obviously one booked passenger can get a doctor's note, but the other pregnant couple is not married nor is the expectant mother a booked passenger.

So worst case we just have to eat $250? Or pay the $100 dollar change request per person and pick a date really far in the future?

  2. As others have said, 5 alcoholic drinks per day (@12-13 each) is what I calculated to break even with the $55 (+ grat) per day cost.

Add in bottled waters, fancy pants coffee, etc, and its pretty easy to get your money's worth and then some.

But if you see yourself enjoying a couple drinks a day at most, it's safe to say it makes more sense to just pay a la carte and get a cheaper bev pacakge.

  3. I booked on August 21st and got in on the "buy one get one 50%" deal. It was advertised to expire that weekend. Guess what was available the day after? Another "buy one get one 50%" deal. But pay attend to on-board credit and any other deals going on. Currently the trip I have booked has an additional $100 dollars off fare (balcony cabin), but there is $100 less on-board credit.

So my best advice is book early, and keep checking for better deals that you can use to get refunds/cheaper rates but beware the fine print! Don't stress too much about a sale deadline because it'll likely come back, but there are zero promises that a particular sale will return.

  4. Does anybody have any experience to share about what happens if the cruise fare price is reduced after you have booked? I booked 3 cabins for a May 2018 cruise about 10 days ago. Just recently I noticed the price has gone down to the tune of 100 bucks a cabin. Before I call into RCCL I'd love to know what to expect. I'd love a refund or fare deduction, but I'd certainly settle for the difference in onboard credit.

    Thank you in advance

  5. I called RCL when I booked directly and have a similar situation. (3 rooms with 5 people total). The RCL employee clearly stated that if my single occupancy room ever decides to add a 2nd occupant, they would only have to pay taxes and port fees.

So it should totally be doable, but it sounds like there is some external factor at play (lifeboat occupancy, etc).

Keep calling and checking back, you never know when something opens up or if the limitation gets cleared. Good luck!

  6. Here is what I noticed over the past 2 weeks. I've noticed this across 2 separate computer, 2 mobile phones, and multiple types of browsers. So I don't think it's me.

Issue 1: If you try to book 2 cabins at once, expect it to fail. After you change/choose the actual cabin numbers you get sent back to the main search results.

Issue 2: If you click on a button to load the next page, but it doesn't load (blank page), then you can usually recover by copying the URL (Ctrl+C), closing the browser fully, and then reopen a new browser window using the copied URL.

Issue 3: You get the "Error page" and they ask you to call in the 800 number.

  7. Hi There,

I have a group of 5 total family members that are looking to book a Liberty of the Seas cruise in May 2018. We want three total rooms, 1 balcony, and 2 interior rooms with the goal of having the rooms somewhat close to each other.

So my question is are there any certain areas of the ship to avoid booking a room? For example, we have the option to book the most "forward" room on deck 10, but don't want our room to be next to a noisy night club, common area or service area. I've been reviewing deck plans the best I can, but it can be hard to understand what the blank areas are, or what could be immediately above or below a room.

I plan to bring a fan and maybe a white noise device just to be safe, but I appreciate any tips or advice you experience folks can relay. Thanks!
