  1. Royal Caribbean seem less worried about customer satisfaction than they did previously and appear only to issuing credits/refunds when they have too. You missed half a days cruise, so they offered OBC for half the day.

No compensation for missed ports seems very unfair in my opinion.

We completed a cruise in October with Royal Caribbean who provided a bus transfer instead of a 'private transfer'.

No compensation as they stated they provided a transfer and not obliged to provide a private transfer even though a private transfer was paid for through their website.

RCCL appear to be taking a certain direction lately.

Charges for room service, gratuities now in speciality restaurants and of course the changes to the drinks packages.

Im sure other changes and charges will be rolled out in time.

At then end of the day, if were not happy with a cruise line, it may be time that we choose another.

  2. There are less orders overall, so people report much faster delivery.

So, it seems to have had some positive benefits also.

Never had a problem with late delivery, either before or after the charge introduced.

Perhaps there are other reasons for RCCL introducing charge.

  3. Why would I want to post a "bad" review? If I have an issue on a cruise I immediately go to Guest Services and if the issue is not resolved quickly I see the Head of Guest Services. It if is a really annoying issue I go directly to Hotel Director or Food and Beverage manager or Housekeeping manager. Why would I want to stew over a situation and then return home and post about it. In 34 cruises I have never had an issue unresolved to my satisfaction and have on 3 occasions received discounts on future cruises. You might be amazed if you become pro active while on cruise instead of waiting to return home without a suitable soultion to whatever it was that made you unhappy on the cruise. I paid for certain level of service and expect to receive same.

I agree, but my review related to the way the concierge dealt with the initial situation and way the RCCL groundstaff conducted themselves after I left the ship.

Still waiting for my review to be published.

  4. I believe this is a part of a saving exercise with RCCL. A lot of changes lately including charge for room service, service charge now on speciality restaurants, all Guests in cabin required to buy drinks package if one buys, higher charges on entertaining rooms.

    The list goes on..............

  5. Thanks guys for your response.

I appreciate the time you have taken in responding to this thread.

For information, I got an email from cruisecritic 30 minutes after posting thread. Apparently I needed to post more information as to the entertainment, service and onboard activities on my cruise.

Appartently my 300 word review was not enough, so I elaborated.

Hopefully review will be posted shortly.

Thanks again for your time in looking and responding to this thread.

    I truly appreciate it.

  6. Lots of female passengers comment that we look nice. I think they wish their spouses would dress up. Just my take on it.

Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Forums mobile app

I do enjoy the formal evenings, but perhaps saddened buy the amount of passengers that are now wearing polo shirts and jeans during such events.

Although my wife and I are in our fifties, we still have a lot of fun.

Personally I enjoy dressing up and making that evening even more special, but perhaps that's me 😬

I have found that cruises are a time to make and cement special relationships.

I have made so many friends during our cruises and for that I am eternally grateful.

  7. Not just suites - any cabin can have ice. Cabin attendants usually bring twice daily - if you want more it's always available. It is normal to let the steward know when he first introduces himself/herself about anything you need such as daily ice, extra towels, etc.

You have just hit the nail on the head.

Its just communicating with your steward.

So if you need something, just ask.

I've always found the good stewards to be worth their weight in gold.

  8. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think BOGO is restricted to days 1 and 2.

Yes, the BOGO is restricted to the first two days of the cruise as this allows the ship to sell the restaurants at a higher price once the guests are onboard.

The first night would be very quiet otherwise.

You can make a reservation on your cruise planner as to the time you require, but can't specify which restaurant.

Once onboard, call at one of the restaurants and you can confirm time and location.

    My favourite is chops grill.

Unfortunately was informed on last two cruises that I could only book one chops grill, so needed to book an alternative restaurant on the other night.

So yes, they do have other restrictions.

  9. Further to title.

Do cruisecritic publish all reviews or are they selective?

Do they just take a long time to publish reviews?

Submitted a bad review of an owners suite on Rhapsody of the Seas. Resubmitted review after a week incase original review was ‘lost in the post’.

Two weeks have passed and the resubmitted review still not published.

Review was concise, no heresay and did not insult anyone. I just evidenced how Royal Caribbean dealt with a ship wide situation and how they dealt with it in my case.

I am aware that Royal Caribbean et al are a big advertiser and contributor to cruisecritic, so was wondering if this would influence the way they decide on which reviews they publish or am I being suspicious?

Sorry, perhaps too many questions 🙈

  10. No harm in trying for additional compensation.

We were on the opposite side of the cruise having being delayed 16 hours from getting out of port.

Missed flights, private transfers cancelled and housed overnight in a grotty hive.

Royal Caribbean gave no compensation or future OBC, even though private transfers, flights and cruise were book direct with them.

Hopefully RCCL have learned from their mistakes and will ensure more staff available the next time this happens.

Mind you, I'm sure this has happened before and yet they still messed it up.
