  1. You're going to have a wonderful cruise! We sailed that itinerary two years ago with Scenic and thoroughly enjoyed the entire trip. Last July we sailed the Rhine & Moselle on the River Queen..While the very fancy decor wasn't to my taste the crew, the service and the food were top notch. They will take excellent care of you.

On our R.Q. cruise there was a good mix of ages. We're right around 60 but we had a great time with the younger folks on board some in their late 30's. The fun thing was no one seemed to notice age but just focused on enjoying everyone else on board. Being a little smaller around with around 125 passengers it was easy to get to know people. Much more so than on a 'big' Viking ship with 190.

Congrats on making a good choice for your river cruise. You're going to love it!

  2. I think the River Queen is assigned to the Rhine area for all her sailings. Are you going on the 13day Legendary Rhine and Moselle? That itinerary is great and I also like the look of the ship, splendid Art Deco style, just cannot resist finding brass and dark blue elegant! I have seen the Royal Crown live ( I was allowed into the lounge); although not really a sister ship to the River Queen she is built in similar style and the interior is similar. Splendid!

I recommend the excursion to Villeroy & Boch for art and china but if you prefer Luxembourg that is fine!

    Have a great time.

  3. We have sailed on the River Queen twice. She is beautiful. Throw everything you know and expect about ocean cruising overboard. No theme nights, no casino, no glitzy entertainment, no need for fancy-dress-to-the-max wardrobe, no at sea days.

Instead bring sensible shoes, a sense of awe, and don't be surprised you are going to drop into bed by 10pm.

The cabins are cozy, the beds comfy, the showers have great pressure, the service flawless, the food delicious, the tours educational and the sights...oh, the beauty!

Feel free to ask as many questions as you can think of.

  4. Don't rule out mingling with other passengers because of their age! If you do so, you're going to miss meeting some very interesting and usually very well traveled people. Given that the river boats are so small (and on our 3 cruises on Uniworld we've had 60 passengers, 80 passengers and 90 passengers) it is extremely easy to mingle both in the lounge, at meals and on excursions.

Oh yes we will mingle Lol. we are so excited. Do you know if they have theme nights like they do on the cruise ships? The river queen looks so beautiful. Looks like we are in for a luxury trip all round.:D:D:D:D:D

  5. We received a cat upgrade to cat 3 cabin 316. We are Heritage club members. You get a few perks if you have cruised with Uniworld before.. Cabins I heard are small but very well organized. You must have a suite! I will give a review when I return...

Thanks yes we have a suite. Leaving from Budapest to Amsterdam on the 20th June getting very excited. I'm a bit worried about the age difference hope there will be some same age travellers like us. 😎
