    Greetings!

We have just booked the Bermuda cruise embarking on 8/27th (late-comers to the party!!!), after canceling the 8/31st Iceland trip.

My question may have been answered earlier in this thread, so please excuse me if it's a repeat...I've only browsed the last few pages so far.

We've booked our own air on JetBlue....has anyone done their own transfers between the airport & the ship? If so, cost?  We're arriving around noon on embarkation day and departing at 12:25pm on debarkation day. Are those time frames legit?

    Thanks!!

sounds like you are flying from Boston to Bermuda .  We did the June 29'th cruise and did are own air. Drove from Albant NY to Boston the day before and stayed at Marriott Courtyard near Logan Airport. Free parking for the week we were away and shuttle to and from airport.  Once we arrived in Bermuda only took about 30 minutes to complete everything.  Hoped on taxi and took about 30 minutes until we boarded ship. Same upon leaving taxis right by ship and quick drive to airport. Cost about 30 to 35 dollars each way.

We are booked on a Northern Lights cruise (our first with Viking) and had airline electronic vouchers that we needed to use soon so we purchased our flight to London with these.  Now I’m looking for a way home from Bergen before I call Viking Air.  I’ve read that one should have 3 choices in mind before calling.  Well when I look at potential flights, the best option is through Amsterdam.  But the early hopper flight from Bergen must be sold out already since they say that route is full.  There don’t seem to be any nonstop Bergen flights to London.  So what do passengers do?  We’ve been to Bergen before so we weren’t planning on extending our stay.  Any suggestions?

we did Viking Homelands cruise a few years ago and booked our own air.  Flew Boston to Bergen with a stay over in Iceland.  This worked out very well. Our return trip was from Stockholm to Boston with a change of planes in Iceland.

Thanks, John.  Yes, we hope that your son is doing OK.

I, like you, was not aware of the ramifications:   that even if we are personally very careful, take precautions, wear masks, and do everything right, that if by chance someone else who tests positive happened to be near us - then that would cause us as innocent conscientious bystanders, to be quarantined.

We definitely would not have booked this cruise knowing that.   Probably my bad though for not digging down into the tiny details of this.  I kick myself, as for us on June 29th, it is too late to cancel.   Irony is our insurance would cover our quarantine if WE were the ones who tested positive.  A real penalty for the innocent guilt by being nearby.

We are on this June 29’th cruise with no insurance.  Regret it now. I am not afraid of COVID with being vaccinated as all other passengers and crew.  However with all this other crap happening gives me pause.  We have done 2 other Viking Cruises and a Viking River.  Always enjoyed other Viking guests as I found them interesting, bright and friendly.  The idea of being comfortable having drinks in the explore lounge on sharing dinner with another couple wishes that we had cancelled

  4. yes numbers are trending in a good direction.  the government is offering prizes for people to get their shots. My biggest concern the the number of days required for the covid test before entering the country.  Vikings form still says 3 days which concerns me and could be a deal breaker.  on the Bermuda web sites it varies from 3-5 days.  have until the 15'th to make up my mind hoping to have restrictions relaxed

Anyone flying Jet Blue out of Boston for the June 15th cruise?

Plan on going to CVS drive thru Friday morning in hopes that PCR results come in Saturday to apply for Authorization Form on Sunday.

If there is a better testing plan out there please let me know. Am open to anything with a better timeframe.Thanks.

  6. Hi guys, looking for any insight as to your favorite included or paid excursions for the Homelands cruise. I would, also, like any info of ones that you didn't particularly care for. Was there anything in port not included but is a must see in your opinion? I know on our Grand European River Cruise there were a few that weren't included and I was lucky to find through research.

Dauntless, you have been a lot of help. Just wanted to give you a shout out.

Thanks for any and all help.

Did Alla 2 day tour in St. Petersburg was great . Highly rec.

  7. We are in the middle of the Iceland precruise to our Midnight Sun cruise starting June 12 in Bergen.

    Our thoughts:

We love Reykjavik! The old town' date=' the harbor, both old and new. Restaurants are wonderful. We arrived a day early (booked or own air). We have had reservations for dinners and glad we had them.

Everything is expensive, but we were prepared for that

It is so worth visiting this beautiful country.

    But...

Wish we had done this on our own, not through Viking.

The Hilton Nordica is a 30-45 minute walk to town. A taxi ride one way is 25-45 US dollars depending on traffic. There is a bus, it has been raining and we have been too impatient to figure it out,(our bad) so we have walked when no rain, or are paying the taxi fares. There are many hotels in and around town, would have preferred that location. We think this Hilton is too far out.

Our Golden Circle tour was today. A very long day with lots of bus time. Beautiful sites, but again wish we had been on our own time table. We would have spent more time in some places and skipped others. Think we could have added the other side of the island, black sand beach, (the south I think) to the Blue Lagoon tomorrow if we had been on our own.

Viking has bus tour of Reykjavik planned in the afternoon tomorrow, but buses can’t get into a lot of downtown, so

we are going to do the church, Opera house, etc on our own, and skip this last bus tour.

Viking booked our flights into Bergen through Oslo,

with an airplane transfer in Oslo. We have talked to some guests who were booked through Viking on a non stop flight to Bergen. I guess it was the luck of the draw. We would have much preferred the non stop.

If we were to plan this again, we would have visited Iceland before the cruise, but made our own arrangements. We have loved Reykjavik! Now on to Norway![/quote']

we r booked on the viking star 8/2518 out of bergen. found it better to book icelandair out of boston ma to iceland with a 2 night stay then a direct flight to bergen on way home flight from stockholm to boston with a short layover in iceland

  8. Hi - Wondering if anyone has thoughts on the Viking Homelands Excursions (or even private ones)? We are going in August - Have already joined others in Roll Call to do a private 2 day tour in St. Petersburg and a private tour in Berlin as well. Saw the Flam Railway get VERY good ratings on another thread, and will do that, too. Wondering thoughts on Pulpit Rock in Stavanger? Copenhagen Excursions? Helsinki? Gdansk?

Any insights would be awesome. I also love things that are a bit 'off the beaten path' , so don't hold back

we are on the August 25'th cruise out of Bergen. iIs that the cruise u r on?
