I know non- or newbie snorkelers attempt to snorkel all the time from shore or from boats. Perhaps non-swimmers too. They give you a snorkel vest which can serve as a floatation device. But if you are a non-snorkeler and wan to learn, you really should go on a snorkel excursions that is geared to newbies. If you're a non-swimmer, I would strongly suggest you DO NOT attempt to snorkel even with a snorkel vest. Please take a couple of swimming lessons and at least learn preventative drowning techniques before going on your cruise.

I would say myself as newbie swimmer with basic floating skill, that's y I am looking some snorkeling option on the shore of beach where we can do a little snorkeling ourselves and can see fishes etc... I'm not looking for big time or mid ocean snorkeling here... any suggestions on which beach we should try?

Yes, as a non-swimmer you can book a snorkeling excursion. You will pay full price but you don't have to snorkel. My husband loves to snorkel but I cannot stand to have the mask on my face so I do not snorkel. Yet, we still both go on the snorkeling excursions. You can stay on the boat or on the beach. I do get in the water but I just float around the boat for fun. Determine what kind of snorkeling trip you might do. If the snorkel starts and stops in different places, you might have to find a way to get to the finishing point. About 2 years ago we booked a beach/snorkel excursion in Cozumel. We went to a beach club called Playa Uvas which was not far at all from the cruise port. My husband went snorkeling and i just spent time on the beach.

Sounds great... for snorkeling do they take somewhere in middle of sea with boat or it can be done at the shore or beach itself?? I am asking because last time I went for underwater diving with my husband and got really really scared and couldn't do anything... I can just float myself so thinking if it's on shore or beach than it will be easier for me else I will have to opt out😂

hi all, I will b traveling with kids 1 yr n 6 yrs, please suggest best option for snorkeling with kids in Cozumel ? my elder knows swimming but I am a non swimmer in my family , can a non-swimmer can do snorkeling??which excursion will suit us? We are looking for beautiful blue water and white sand beach where we can do some snorkeling and relax a bit.

Oh.. is it just few toddlers that you saw or kids not allowed at all? I have 1 yr and 6 yrs and looking into reviews I was really looking forward for this... but 1 question though why not kid friendly coz it's a beach?

You won't have white sand or clear blue water in Progreso, but it is still a neat place to visit. There are a couple of resort tours that also offer a short tour of ruins. This is a real Mexican fishing village and a stroll a few blocks away from the Malecon will let you see how these people really live. I have seen some beautiful homes,shopped where the locals shop (found real bargains there) and have eaten where the locals eat. Fantastic! There is also a double decker bus that will give you a short town tour for a few bucks.

 

Many people don't even get off the ship here, but they are missing some good food. Drinks are cold and service good at several of the eateries on the Malecon. We ate at Le Saint Bonnet of the Malecon and were served right on the beach. Another time we were prowling through the Mercado (Market) and ate where some of the locals were haveing lunch. I have no idea what I had, but it was GOOD. We have been to Progreso 3 times and did something different each time. I could go back.

We are going this December with my 1 yr and 6 yrs old kids and basically looking for nice blue beach and white sand so I and my husband can relax and kids can play in water n sand. Is the beach beautiful? Is it secluded? What else would you recommend to try there? Thanks in advance

Hi All, I am new here and this will be our first cruise. We are booked for dec with my 6yr n 1 yr old kids. Just wanted to know how is progresso beach? We are looking for beautiful beach with blue water n white sand but looking at other reviews it doesn't seems it has one of that kind of beach there. Can anybody give a suggestion what to expect in progresso? Also I am thinking weather to take 4 days with just Cozumel or stick to this 5 days plan?? Both are costing me the same, it's just that extra 1 day is worth to take or leave it ? Please advise
