Trend, Definitely by the Holiday Cruises!

Zoey, Yes, they'll be on the Trans-Atlantic!

Cpgneyes, Best estimate is they will come onboard DURING your cruise. I look forward to you posting a photo when they arrive!

We will be boarding the 28th also.  Looking forward to breaking in the new cushions!

There was indeed one offered in Valencia last June and it took us within easy walking distance of the gates to the old city.

There was some confusion about its availability, so you first might want to check on board.

Compared to other ports, it seems a rather lengthy ride , but it is a remarkable site to visit and well worth it.

That sounds good.  Hopefully, they still do this.  I did get info on the Shorebee shuttle there just in case, so we should be OK one way or the other.  Thanks so much for the info!

  3. Our driver got us to the terminal in about an hour, but I suppose it depends on the time of day and traffic. I think if you allowed 90 minutes you’d be fine. BTW, we were able to board the ship a little earlier than indicated on our cruise documents and it was quick and efficient! Enjoy your cruise!

Thanks!! We are going to Livorno and Monte Carlo on our cruise, also. Looking forward to reading about the rest of your cruise. You are making me look even more forward to ours.

  4. I was wondering about that, as my TA is also having a big Labor Day sale that offers a lot of OBC. How would that work if I booked onboard?

We are starting our cruise on the Pursuit from Rome. We are staying in central Rome for 3 days before the cruise, which we booked on our own. I understand it takes about an hour and a half to get to the port in Civitavichia (sp). Does that check out with what you experienced?

Thanks for all the info - sounds like you are having a great trip. This will be our first time on Azamara, also.

  5. We were on the ship’s long excursion to Florence/Pisa this past June and we were back in plenty of time to attend the operatic evening in Livorno. If memory serves, the Evening started a little later than others we have attended.

    It was highly enjoyable.

Are both Evenings showcasing sopranos or are tenors performing at one of them?

Good to hear. We will be going to Florence for the day on Oct 31 and then going to the Livorno opera house that evening. How was the opera?

  6. We are going to be docking in Olbia, Sardinia. Is there much to do there? Is there a place to sample wines from around the Island? There are some excursions to some wineries in other towns. Has anyone done these excursions and was it worthwhile?

  7. We will be docking at Bastia, Corsica. Anyone been there? Is there enough to do in Bastia for a day or would you recommend taking an excursion? We would be interested in local wine tasting. They have a couple of excursions to wineries, but was wondering if there are places in Bastia where we could try the local wines as well.

  8. I can share my experience on two of these. Snorkeling in the Caymens is good. The Caymens are more known for diving more than snorkeling. The water is deep where they typically take you if you are not going to stingray city. They take you over a wreck in the same harbor where the ships dock. The wreck is 40 feet down if I remember correctly. The unique thing is that we saw several large tarpons. There are also the normal fish but they may be down a ways. My wife was not wild about snorkeling there because she has poor eye sight and could not the fish nearly as well as I could. By the way, Stingray city is a blast if you have never been and you usually have a snorkeling option with it that is on the way out. The snorkeling is not the best, but the sting rays more than make up for that.

I would not recommend the sub ride in Aruba. We saw a few fish and a whole lot of white sand with occasional seaweed. I had always wanted to go on a sub, but I would guess Aruba is just not the best place to do it.

  9. Going on HAL for a Panama Canal cruise in a couple of weeks. Did some research on Zihuatanajo and it looks like Playa la Ropa might be a good place to spend the day. I cannot figure out how far it is from the ship, whether we can walk or grab a cab over there and whether that is something practical to do while we are there. Ship arrives at 8 am and leaves at 5 pm. Is anyone out there familiar with this place? Also, what should a cab for 4 people run?

    Thanks!

  10. We are now both over 55. We can fly to Miami from where we live. Question is there are so many cruises that leave from there. I considered the Carnival Victory going to Key West for a few hours one day and then most of a day in Cozumel, MX. Is there any cruise you'd suggest? I think the Carnival cruise would have a lot of kids on it.

We have cruised several different lines. If my wife and I are going ourselves, we prefer HAL, Princess, or Celebrity which will have less kids. We were on HAL last month and there were hardly any kids on the Eurodam. If we go with a group that includes young people we tend to go Royal which has a lot to offer for the younger crowd including young adults.

  11. We went to Honeymoon Beach on St. John's a few years ago and it was very memorable. We did a Champagne snorkel and Catamaran (or something like that) excursion. The Catamaran took us to Honeymoon Beach. No one was there except our group of 15 to 20 people. The snorkeling was excellent. Relaxing on a beach with almost no one around and swimming was really great. It is an experience we will never forget and a different way to experience St. John that I assume is still available.
