  1. When I was on the Adventure in 2016 they did offer it on one night at the pool deck. However, it also happened to be the Super Bowl, so I dont know if that was the reason it was offered. I've seen it on other ships once in awhile, but seems to be a daily special rather than always available.

    Thank you

  2. separator.gifHere I am again, help please. I have searched for cruise compasses for The Navigator 5 night Western Caribbean cruise out of Miami sailing to Cozumel and Puerto Costa Maya but no luck. Can anyone provide those along with dining room menu's please? I also wanted to know if that ship offers the silent disco party?

I was looking for the 9-day cruise compasses.

  3. Memories of Caribbean cruises 30 yrs ago ...

Steel bands playing on deck. ice carvings, outdoor food events etc. Created a Caribbean atmosphere which I really enjoyed so for a number of years, flying from UK to Miami and catching a RCI cruise became a regular thing.

Then for various reasons focused on European itineraries so we have a 20+ year gap.

Over past 2 years, I have gone back to booking Caribbean cruises half expecting to experience the same on ship atmosphere, especially with the bands.

The cruises have been great but the Caribbean feel has gone. Does anyone else feel the same or can relate to what I am saying? Could it be because of the ships I am choosing (Oasis class)? Would I get the old Caribbean feel if I sailed on the older, smaller ships perhaps on the Southern Caribbean itinerary?

I remember the Ice carvings by the pool.

  4. Prior to cruising on Adventure of the Seas last month, I was doing my best to find a recent cruise compass from our itinerary, but was having no luck finding one that matched our itinerary. Because of this, I made sure to pick up an extra cruise compass everyday with the sole reason of keeping it to upload to help others out. Our itinerary was:

    Day 1 - San Juan

    Day 2 - St. Thomas

    Day 3 - Sea Day

    Day 4 - Curacao

    Day 5 - Aruba

    Day 6 - Sea Day

    Day 7 - St. Kitts

    Happy Cruising everyone!

Thank You for posting the compasses.

  5. OP: so glad you had a great trip, and thank you for taking the time to do this review. In particular, I know it's quite time consuming to go through your photos, and select and post them. Much appreciated.

We'll be on our first Panama Canal cruise in a little over two months, on the NCL Jewel, same direction in which you traveled, so I'm reading along here with interest. I share your thoughts about the Canal and the engineering marvel that it is, and I'm so excited about our transit.

BTW -- I got a smile from your photo of the Panama Canal day balcony breakfast. I've read so much on here about NCL's Canal cruises, but this is the first anyone has mentioned that breakfast. I love huevos rancheros, so I hope the Jewel will be serving them as well. :)

Looking foward to the rest of your review.

    I agree with you .

  6. Don't bring your mistress to cruise ship, lol

Seriously, what kind of invasion of privacy are you talking about? It's not like they have live webcam in your room.

I was on a cruise where a man did bring his mistress. Once I saw him with one woman and another day I saw him with a different woman and a young boy. Both times they were sitting in each other's arms.

  7. Have done several 21 day cruises and have one booked on Celebrity in 2019. We love them.

So much easier when you have to travel so far to a port. We love the Caribbean and have been to most of the islands that cruise ships go to.

Never, ever get tired of the ship. The ports, yeah sometimes we don't even get off of the ship such as when we go to Grand Cayman, Ochos Rios, etc. been there way too many times and enjoy staying on the ship.

Did get tired of the same old band on Carnival on a 21 day cruise but that is because they did the same songs every night. That is pretty rare.

Just be forewarned, watch the waistline LOL. Very easy to gain weight on a 21 day cruise with all of that awesome food.

I love 21 days without cooking, cleaning, tv, etc.

The 21-day cruise sounds Great. I'll have to try it.

  8. To anyone who has/or will book in Stateroom 6290 to 6300, please beware. We just got off the Quantum this past Saturday (1/3/15) for a 7 night sailing. VERY dissapointed in our room selection. The room was OK, even with the obstructed view of the life boats, but the disturbing part was the noise from BELOW. Jamies's kitchen (dining) was right below and ALL night from when the closed, which was about 11:00, they would clean the kitchen. You could hear alot of banging and the dishwasher sounds all through the night. This was in cabin 6294. In our cabin 6290 there is a PULPER machine that chews up OLD food and sends it out to sea. This pulper unit (about a 3' pipe) goes right up from their kitchen past our room and out. It sounds like a 100 toilets flushing at once. or like a freight train. It only lasts about 5 seconds, but at 1:00-7:00 A.M. EVERY SINGLE night, It startles the crap out of you. We complained almost every day. I finally had to do my own investigating to FIND the problem. I finally found after walking down there at 1:30 A.M. on Wednesday morning and asked a cleaning worker to turn it on and send some food out, which he did. FOUND IT..... I do not tell you this to complain, just to let you know that the room selection is key and don't want you to be disapointed. We told them to only do it between 8:00 A.M. and 11:00 P.M. The noise still happened in cabin 6294 (banging dishes, dishwasher, etc) but in cabin 6290, it continued throughout the whole cruise. Talk to Charlie (housekeeping supervisor) if it continues. He is the only one that knows how to resolve it.

If I were to book again, I would stay away from cabins 6290-6300 all together.

Email me if you have any other questions. robertbrown1122@gmail.com Other than that, The Quantum is pretty awesome....

    Thanks for the warning/ information.:D
