  1. STILL waiting for a full refund!

I spoke to a person at Celebrity yesterday and she told me my refund had been processed that very day and I would be seeing it at any time on my credit card. I got so excited, that I neglected to ask her the amount of the refund. Silly me.

Today I saw on my credit card that I was refunded $163.00. I finally called my credit card company and let them know what was going on and they opened a case.

I agree that Celebrity is still my favorite cruise line to sail but the business side of the company really sucks.

  2. Can't you file a dispute with credit card co? They sometimes provisionally remove the charges while investigating...

Thank you, that is an idea. I had purchased travel insurance for the cancelled trip, but told the insurance company I would be getting a full refund. They then transferred my insurance to my replacement cruise on NCL. Never in my wildest imagination did I think we would still be talking about this refund a month later!

  3. It is our UNhappy one month anniversary since our Summit cruise was cancelled 2 weeks before the sailing. We all received an email telling us refunds would be processed in 1 to 3 weeks. Many of us have had NO refund, NO responses from Celebrity, just stress. The payment for my more expensive, last minute booking, "replacement' cruise is looming large on my credit card bill. The same credit card I used to pay for my Summit cruise in good faith. What are we supposed to do? You get the run around on the phone, emails go unanswered -- well, the President of Celebrity is busy with her cruise of the Galapagos Islands...........

  4. Please believe everything you are reading on this thread. Celebrity is a company and due to the zillion page cruise contract we all agree to when we book our cruises, they can do as they please. I think it is difficult for us to believe because we LOVE Celebrity. It is hard for us to accept when they show us that they DO NOT feel the same about us. They bump us from fully paid, assigned cabins with days notice. They cancel our Spring Break cruise with 2 weeks notice, offer an apology and a full refund and nothing more.

I was booked on the Summit cruise that was completely cancelled with 2 weeks notice. Yes, it was a shock. It was stressful and expensive to find a replacement spring cruise. We found one and sailed NCL Escape last week. We had a nice time.

Now we are back and still have NO refund. It has been over 3 weeks now and many of us don't have our money back. That is just among CC members, who knows about the rest of the passengers? We paid our money in good faith for a cruise leaving April 8th. On March 24th, Celebrity decided that trip would not happen......they told us refunds would take 1 to 3 weeks to process.......

Forget about my misplaced loyalty to Celebrity. I know better now. I just want my money. Celebrity has my money and I want it back.

  5. Back from my replacement cruise............and WHERE IS MY MONEY??? I just read the cancellation letter AGAIN dated March 24th and it states refunds would be processed in 1 to 3 weeks. Three weeks ago was LAST Friday. I am so over this company.

I just cannot imagine how some of you are dealing with refunds on multiple cabins, excursions, airfare changes etc., etc., etc.!!!

  6. I'm so sorry...so they exclude holiday sailings...recognizing value in holiday sailings...yet they shortened the April 15 Easter sailing with no special recognition that it was a HOLIDAY sailing. Major Celebrity fail. Hopefully you can find a summer or a off-holiday break to get the make-up discount as weak as it is.

As someone stated earlier--they pay nothing unless one of us takes them up on their (agreed-weak) offer. And yes, these 2 sailings that were cancelled and modified are HOLIDAY sailings and cost us all so much to replace last minute. I'm thinking about some of the large family groups that were on this sailing--they will never be able to use this "discount" without assembling the same group of cruisers. My husband is assigned one discount and me the other.....it doesn't go to the person who paid the fare (and who probably still doesn't have their money back.)

  7. I've just received an email from celebrity with the details for the 25% off for a future cruise. They only offer 25% of what we paid and not a real 25 %.

And the more insulting is that we still wait for the cruise refund and the amount for airfare modifications.

As we are driving down to Miami for our NCL Escape replacement cruise....I just received our future cruise certificate with Celebrity which is supposed to be a big apology for trouble caused by the cancellation of the Summit cruise. They really need lessons in how to make a genuine apology! My certificate expires 4/4/2018. Not even good for a whole year folks! 25% of what I paid, NOT off the future cruise. Only good for the passengers named on this cruise. Here's the kicker---EXCLUDES Holiday sailings. I'm a teacher, so wish me luck with that.........

  8. I am wondering if there is a webcam at the pier in San Juan? I truly believe there will be passengers showing up on April 8th to board the Summit! After one answering machine message and one spammy email 'notifying' me of the cancelled cruise, I have continued to receive a constant stream of emails from Celebrity about preparing for my upcoming cruise. As previously stated on this thread, my account on Celebrity still tells me that my cruise is Booked and sailing in XX days!

It has been 13 days and no refund in sight. Summit is a relatively small ship, how hard is it to issue full refunds? It is not exactly Oasis of the Seas with 6,000 passengers. Why have they have started refunds for the April 15th cruise instead of the April 8th?

I have a twitter account, but I don't tweet much.........I think it is time to start!

  9. If they stopped selling cabins I would be concerned that this cruise may not happen. This is what happened to us earlier this year when they canceled a cruise which ended being chartered. In that case they gave us a cabin on another cruise at the same rate as we originally booked and $200 OBC. This time we booked a 7 day to Bermuda in place of the canceled April 8 cruise at a higher rate for the same cabin class. Our TA called to see if they would honor our orginal rate but they would not. We ended up with a cruise which is going to cost us much more even with the 25% credit and not our ideal itinerary. I realize no one is forcing us to take this but we planned on a cruise in the spring and at this late date, this is the best we could do.

Thank you Sue! This is the kind of information we all need. I appreciate hearing what Celebrity has done in the past for their customers when cancelling a cruise. Actually, I would be thrilled to rebook another cruise in the next year using the rate I already paid for this one NOT a 25% discount based on what I paid. The $200 OBC would be icing on the cake. Right now I am seething that they still have the use of all of our money from the April 8th cruise--all cruise fares were paid in full. I have about $5K in cruise fares on one credit card at this moment in time--I can't imagine what it is like for others with multiple cabins and airfares.

  10. Agree that this is a big shock to have to deal with at the last minute. The dropping of days of the one cruise is worse than an outright cancellation, to me. At least they're pro-rating the cruise cost in that case, but I know it puts a damper on the overall vacation.

I could not disagree more. I feel that Celebrity is actually doing right by these cruisers. They still have a 4 night cruise to go on. They already have airfare in place. The refunded nights of their cruise can go directly towards hotel/resort nights in Puerto Rico. AND they are getting one night's cruise fare as a REFUNDABLE onboard credit. Wow. Spend it all onboard and drown your sorrows over the missed ports or take it home with you! Vacation dampened, but you are still in your cabin on your ship.

Trying to reschedule a cruise with 2 weeks notice during high season in the cruising world is a financial nightmare. I do not expect them to pay me for the difference in price of my new non-Celebrity cruise. But I would like them to offer me something to show that they actually want me back as a customer.

  11. I am also a little concerned about cruisers booked on this trip who may not know yet that it is cancelled! I had one brief message on my answering machine Thursday afternoon, then Friday afternoon I got the spammy looking email about the cancellation. Meanwhile, I am still getting auto generated emails from Celebrity reminding me to checkin for my upcoming cruise. And on the Celebrity website my cruise still shows up and looks active:o Not everyone is on top of email and social media!

  12. Ok, we're back from our week in 6294. Bed is by the bath--just the way I like it. The balcony is extra deep. Beyond the balcony is the roof on one of the specialty dining rooms. It is painted blue:). We were joking that we could spread our beach towels on it and get some sun! Like a big blue lawn. So anyway, you can't see down to the water, but the lifeboats are well forward of this cabin.

Now for the bad: the noises in this cabin (to me) were NOT good at night! I don't know if they were noises from the ship or from workers--there is an access door across the hall and back from this cabin. I can't say that I was hearing slamming doors though--it was more like "rolling" sounds. Very random and at many times throughout the night. I'm more of a light sleeper, but my friend heard it too.

I can't use earplugs (I get fixated on my heartbeat that I hear in my ears!!), so I did ask our cabin steward for an extra feather pillow which I put around my head at night and it allowed me to get better sleep.

Still had a great cruise, booked really late, so we didn't get to pick our cabin, but I'm happy with the price we paid! I just kept reminding myself of that when the noise woke me up!!

  13. Well, Mr. Bayley was on the March 24th sailing of Silhouette. So he had the opportunity (on Sunday, March 31st) to join all of the passengers in the long, outdoor snaking line--just to get indoors to claim luggage that seemed to be set up in so many nooks and crannies--it's a wonder any of us found ours! Then we got to join another long line-with all our luggage in tow to get to the customs agents. There were 4 working which seems like "normal" to me. This process took well over an hour!! Thank goodness it wasn't pouring rain and the weather was relatively cool. The icing on the cake was that we were told there was no restroom available after we got through customs!! I did eventually find one in another terminal. The "Modern Luxury" part of the Celebrity Cruise was well over by that point for us!!
