What is the ship's capacity looking like these days?

I’ve heard 1700-1800 but nothing official. The pool area had plenty of open chairs on the past two sea days and it definitely isn’t crowded anywhere.

  2. Hi! We were not tested at the port. We just showed the negative test result that we received two days before departure in Rome along with our vaccine information. Be aware—several passengers without 3 shots had to get a booster at the port (30 minutes away actually!) because their second shot was out of the 270-day window. I’m not sure if that caused our delay out of Civitavecchia or not…

We haven’t hit a port yet but masks on board are optional. In Rome we wore masks in St. Peter’s only. The cabs and transfer vehicles did not require them.

  3. We sailed on the Breakaway last month. We stayed in a Haven suite and DH and I both have Platinum status. The one and only time I called the concierge I left her a message but my call was never returned, nor did she follow through on my request. Our butler was very good and he made the dinner reservation I had requested through the concierge.

  4. I just completed my check-in but I can't see how to print my boarding pass and luggage tags...

I hope it's just a glitch due to their website maintenance scheduled for later today. I find their site to be difficult to navigate but maybe it's just not mobile-friendly.

  5. We don't sail until September of 2016 but was curious. Does concierge send out anything ahead of the cruise asking questions as celebrations and requests? Thanks!

I haven't sailed on the Breakaway but we were recently in the Haven on NCL Jade and yes, we were contacted in advance by concierge services. It was a sort of form letter we filled out requesting soft drinks, bottles of liquor, pillow preferences, etc..

  6. we were a group of 13/14 year boys, were did they take us and let us out by ourselves Amsterdam

Lucky boys! We were a group of 16/17 year olds, and they set us free in Bodrum, Turkey, which at that time was a sleepy little town. We still managed to get in a large bottle of beer and a camel ride!

Here is my class aboard the SS Uganda.

  7. Wow! This thread came up on a search I was doing for the SS Uganda. I was a Canadian military brat living in Lahr, W. Germany in the 70's, and I took an educational Christmas cruise in 1978 on the SS Uganda along with many UK students. The plane left from London, and actually made a stop in Lahr, Germany to pick up the Canadian students.

We departed from Naples, and visited Jerusalem, Cypress, Turkey, Greece and Malta, from where we flew home.

We students were relegated to the less desirable areas of the ship, so I can't say I got my love of cruising from the Uganda, but what a memorable trip it was!

    Cheers!
