Where can you find how many are booked on the ships?

Not easy. I use an online booking agency, like Cruise.com.  I go thru the drill like I was booking a cruise.  One of the last items is picking a cabin. The problem is, they don’t show it all at once.  So you have to look at each category, and there are dozens.

live heard there is an app that shows all available cabins on a particular cruise...but I’ve never found it.

  2. I saw on a Princess board they are doing some upgrades on ships leaving in February.

I just looked at Zuiderdam in Oct 21, and that ship is almost empty.  It was supposed to be at 50% capacity controlled...but it is no where near that.  If there was ever a time when upgrades made sense, it is now.  Lots of cabins are available, and passengers are going to considerable trouble, ie vaccination, testing, mask, port cancellations, restrictions on activities, etc.  An upgrade would be an appropriate gesture.  It is quite possible that we will have restrictions...both on shore and outside our rooms.  Having a nice balcony might be where we are spending most our time.

  3. Thanks, Steve

That relieves my mind!  I guess I had a vision of when I went into a Walgreens..twenty minute wait, filling at paperwork, wait for the person to get supplies, etc.  I just couldn’t imagine a small onboard medical office being able to process a couple of thousand people.

Hopefully, in a year, the situation will ease.  We are going on another B2B in seven weeks, and it looks quite a bit darker.

  4. On the Summit cruise to Iceland in August 2022, almost everyone is going B2B, Bayonne-Iceland, then Iceland -Boston.  I do not see how we are to comply with Covid testing for the second leg.  We would not have time to take tests and get results.  Even if Celebrity was to allow us to to it in their clinic, I can’t imagine being able to process hundreds..maybe even a thousand... of passengers.

This situation exists with all B2B cruises, but this cruise will be especially problematic due to the large numbers going B2B.

  5. The new rules call for Covid testing within 72 hrs of embarkation.  That will be a tight fit!  We plan on flying in to San Diego a day early. The airline changed my flight, cancelled the non-stop.  So I won’t be able to be tested the day before.  Some testing locations say they can get results in 24 hours, but hedge about guaranteeing that.

Even more worrisome is that we plan on taking another cruise the day after the first.  No way to get tested.  I think the cruise line should test at the end of the first cruise..at their expense.

It occurs to me that this situation would face all people doing B2B cruises.

  6. You will receive a letter in your stateroom with details applicable to your sailing.

In general, the time period that the vouchers can be used is something like 5pm to 8:30pm. Drinks are limited to soda, house wine/champagne, selected beers, and basic (no blender/frozen) cocktails.

The vouchers expire each night, so cannot be accumulated.

Thanks. Do you know if this per person, or per account?

  7. Hi,

Is there anyone who has recently (within last 2 years) been to Hawaii on any of the Queens and taken the ships excursion to Pearl Harbour/Arizona Memorial?

I am trying to find out the cost of the ships excursion as compared to a DIY trip.

    Best wishes,

    Dave

Dave, a search show a couple of possibilities: Robert's Hawaii is by far the biggest tour operator in the islands. Even cheaper is Royal Hawaiian Tours. This is also a very large, well-known tour operator in the islands. Their charge was$33, with 10% off if you are a senior or veteran. That included van, tickets ( they said you would avoid lines), plus some additional sights in Honolulu area.

Dave, you may want to put a DIY group together...but if you don't want to, or it doesn't come together, don't sweat it. You will find a dozen+ tour operator in the terminal or immediately outside on the sidewalk???you have to wade thru a gauntlet of them to cross the street.
