  1. On my first cruise I was traveling with my brother but didn’t feel well the first night so I went to bed early. The next morning he told me about a group of people he met, including this one young man and his girlfriend. Later that evening we are watching a comedy show and that young man shows up holding hands with a young lady, and my brother invites them to join us. The young lady (both in their mid 20s) sits on his lap and proceeds to be a bit physical with him. Later that night I remark to my brother that the young mans girlfriend was very attractive , and he stated, “oh she is but that wasn’t her.” Apparently the gentleman and his girl friend broke up their first night on the cruise and we would see him with a different young lady or two every night, with the ex girlfriend looking like she was having a miserable time.

  2. I took my sons (10&7) on the princess cruise the end of this past September and they loved it. We are actually booked for sept ‘18 through princess again because it was such a good experience. My ten year old loved the kids club for his age (as did my 7 year old) and I would say there were probably 15 kids in each of their age groups. We also did a lot of things together as a family and overall had a amazing experience.

  3. I have an alert set on the Ship Mate app to notify with prices drops. Booked on 9/28 and already had 1 alert and credit applied to my balance.

Download the app and add your sailing and click on price alert.

Do you find the ship mate to be accurate? One of the cruises I have booked show 1799 on the website and 1549 on ship mate ?

  4. Please don’t flame me for asking but you tip in cash or by using your sailing card? I’ve been on two cruises but they were always “led” by family members who took care of all the tipping. I’m going on one in March and taking a cousin who has never been, so I just want to make sure I am up to date on all these details.

  5. You know, people may as well just type "Costco" because when the "big box" euphemism is used, we all know what it means. (I am not interested in their way of pricing and lack of service anyway).

Anyway, IDK why the OP doesn't plan and book the trip (hopefully they bought FCD's while on this season's trip). The deposit is fully refundable up to final payment date. You get the price and promotion of today and secure the type of cabin desired and location. Then, just watch for any better deal and re-fare or re-book if something better comes along. Or, if you don't like the price at all, just cancel later.

I’m really new to cruising so I wasn’t aware of any of this. I’ll look into it, thanks.

  6. Hi everyone, my family took a spur of the moment cruise to Alaska a few months ago with Princess and loved it (Sep 23-30, the inside passage with glacier bay). We would love to redo the vacation again next september and include my other brothers who didn't go along with us, but the prices seem quite a bit higher now than when we booked ($999 for an inside room vs the mid $800s that we paid, and now a balcony is $1,899 vs the $1,299 we paid). Should I just continue to keep an eye on prices and see if they drop later on in the year? Is there a cheaper time of year to see Alaska since so many of us are going? Any other advice or tips are welcomed, thanks!

  7. Thanks for the responses everyone. I can drive about 5 hours north and get to Galveston so due to budgetary limits at the minute, it’s just easier to do that vs fly somewhere. I’m looking forward to cruising out of other ports once im finished with this grad degree and have a little more wiggle room in the budget.
