  1. I am so  sorry that the  Antarctica cruises are all having issues... I know we all want to get to the beautiful 7th continent. I have been following this post and  appreciate everyone's comments- it helped us make a decision. Four of us  were booked on Quark Ultramarine for Feb 10, 2022 and just decided to cancel and get the future travel credit voucher  (we tried to  get a refund but  a refund  is not an option unless   Quark cancels the cruise).  We felt it was too iffy to go  at this point... My friend was on an Atlas Antarctica cruise that went out the end of Dec.  They loved it but when they got back in early Jan,  at least 26 passengers tested positive and had to stay 10 days in quarantine.  Luckily my friend and her mom were negative and able to fly home but she said everyone worried about the covid risk during the cruise. I just checked cruisemapper.com and there are 5 ships anchored off Ushuaia & not moving, not a good sign... 😞

  2. Thank-you for all the info, I am so sorry for the canceled cruises.  We are on the Quark Ultramarine Feb 11 and trying to figure out if best to cancel now or wait... We have a travel agent friend who is in Antarctica now. He had an issue with a different cruise line (not Quark) . They were leaving  last weekend and a few passengers tested positive, they kept the ship an extra night in Ushuaia so they could retest the passengers and make sure  they were accurate positive tests.  The passengers who were positive got off the ship and  are now  quarantining for 10 days in Ushuaia.

  3. We are a group of 10 that will be on the Anthem May 22-23. We want to take a horse and carriage ride around St Georges. I emailed Crystal and her largest carriage holds 7. Is there usually more than one carriage available at a time in St George? We are hoping we can find 2-3 carriages to hold the 10 of us and follow each other on a tour around St Georges . Or is there a company with a large carriage?

  4. I used this site to get info for our Middle East cruise last week and I know there was not a lot of info on Fujairah. We just got back from our cruise and I would say definintely get off the ship in Fujairah. We were on Royal Carib. Brilliance of the Sea. We took the free ship shuttle to LuLu market where there were lots of taxis waiting for business. We negotiated a rate of $30/hour and first went to the Fujairah fish market. Go there first as the fresh fish is brought in from the sea. It was interesting to see the different fish and watch the fish mongers filet the fish. There is also a souk attached to the fish market. Some of us bought abayas in the souk. We then took the taxi for a photo stop at Fujairah fort- it is not open to tours. The taxi then took us to Bitnah fort and another fort which we were able to climb on and around. Then we went to the Friday market in Mustafi- we found the shop owners very pushy but one in our group did get a nice carpet. We had planned to stop and snorkel to Snoopy island but the water was cold and we did not have enough time in the day. When we got back we went in the Lulu Market. My sister bought a pretty abaya (go to the back of the dept store) and we stocked up on juice and soda for in our ship cabin. A lady in charge of the ship shuttle told us we would be allowed to bring drinks on board and she was correct. Fujairah was our first port stop on the cruise and we were very glad to get off the ship and see it.
