Plus if you do a 1A guarantee there is a chance you could be upgraded. Every one of my friends who has done the 1A guarantee got upgraded, and upgraded well!

The venitllation system is not great if you are smoking in the cabin. If your husband is bothered by the smoke, don't do it in the cabin as they are small and the smoke will linger for awhile. He will have no escape. The bathrooms are not big and smoking in there would be a huge mistake.

I can't believe I forgot all about the Sheridan's on my last cruise. People go nuts over this stuff, I must try some. I guess I'll be going on another cruise for the sole reason of buying some Sheridan's. :p
-
I read about this awhile ago and I wanted to buy it on my cruise last November, but alas I forgot about it, darn! People swear by this stuff.

LOL Joseph, you know that the native NY'rs would hunt you down, and nag you for a review. Some people find that kinda of pushy, but you know we mean well. :D
It's just that we feel like we already know Joseph after months of giving him advice. Besides meaning well we were being a little protective and making sure he had a good time. ;)
-
I just checked too, his last post says he'll come back here and post his review shortly. I feel like such a stalker.
-
NameGame, I notice that you are going to leave next week. Bon Voyage. :)
Yes I am, thanks.
I believe Joseph is ignoring us - he posted after us and totally ignored us.Maybe he didn't have a good time?
I can't imagine he didn't have a good time. He just forgot about us. :(
-
He promised us he'd update us - how can he forget?
I just posted after you on his Spirit thread. Hopefully with the two of us giving him a guilt trip he will come back here to give us his review.
-
I started a thread asking for Joseph but he never responded. I am so curious to know how his trip to New York was.

I know many people who suffer with fluid retention while cruising. It is quite common. Besides the humidity and the heat, change in diet contributes (especially salt). Putting fear into people by telling them to consult their doctor is not necessary. Not the day of but the day after I return home, my fluid retention is gone. Now if only the extra pounds were gone too. :D

Make sure you drink a lot of water. WATER, WATER, WATER. I always bring some aquaban with me as well but take it as needed. I somehow don't think men have the same problem but every woman I know who cruises does have this same problem. My fingers swell so much I can't wear my rings. If you didn't get what I was trying to say, drink WATER, WATER, WATER!
-
Enjoy Joseph. I hope you have a great time and can't wait to hear all about it when you get back.

The Pod hotel is located in the East 50's. Your son and his friends will have no trouble finding bars and restaurants in walking distance to the hotel. It's also a safe neighborhood and only a couple of Avenue's to the subway.

I am considering this two...
Professor Thom's..... and Crocodile Lounge (free pizza sounds good...):D
Tell me you top 3?
Another question i will need Internet, but maybe an Internet Cafe any Opinions?
The NY public Library have Internet?
I have a feeling I am a little older than you are so my top 3 wouldn't be the same top 3 for you. I can say you are making a good choice with Professor Thom's and Croc. Lounge. Go to Prof. Thom's first, then over the Croc. Lounge for another drink and pizza. They are very close to each other.
As for internet service, I am almost positive the NY public library has internet service, but many magazine stores offer mini internet cafes as well, at least the ones by me. Your hotel also might have a computer room. Do a google search for internet cafes in NYC, there are a ton listed.

Joseph, did you figure out which bar you are going to for happy hour?
-
Joseph, you started this thread which now has almost 500 posts. You will need to start a new thread with your review. I hope it's a good review because you will have had a great time here. :D

Shecky's is easier to navigate than CitySearch. I find places on Shecky's, then look them up on CitySearch to read user reviews and get the official websites.
-
The East Village has great bars for happy hour that have a young crowd. Here are some suggestions:
Professor Thom's
http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41971946/new_york_ny/professor_thom_s.html
Crocodile Lounge (free pizza)
http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41913025/new_york_ny/crocodile_lounge.html
The Lower East Side also has happy hours with a young crowd.
Boss Tweed's
http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41417120/new_york_ny/boss_tweeds.html
Lucky Jack's
http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/41682235/new_york_ny/lucky_jack_s.html
There are so many more places to suggest. I recommend looking up Citysearch (New York City)- bars and nightlife. The neighborhoods I suggest are East Village, Greenwich Village, The West Village, The Lower East Side, and The Upper East Side (last choice as so far from other areas). Those are the neighborhoods that will get the younger collegy crowds. If you have questions about certain bars, feel free to ask. Also look up Shecky's (New York) for those same neighborhoods. Go to advanced search and you can pick what you are looking for.

HELLO EVERYONE...
We are looking for a good Bar with Happy Hour to spend and afternoon...also with good appetizers.
Please let me know your opinions.;)
Joseph, you might as well start a whole new thread with this question. :D
On every block you will find many bars. What neighborhood are you looking at and what type of bar? Trendy? Irish Pub? Older crowd? Collegy crowd? Sports bar? I set up monthly happy hours so I can definitely help you out here but I need to know a little more about what you are looking for.

Skip the eggs and eat raisin bran for breakfast.

dude, i hate to say this. but others have posted similar sentiments. you know, you could have done a search. no need for a new thread. yada yada yada.
dude.
You know, this is kind of funny. Not to pick on you Zone but your reply (post #2 on this thread) was a little nasty and now look, over 350 posts on this thread.

I always thought it was a way to get many police to someplace quickly....so they wouldn't have to come to one central spot to be bused someplace. they practice this all the time. I see about one a week....its quite impressive...
Except when you are trying to get to work and traffic gets snarled.

This one above is one of my favorites.

This one is not really a restaurant but a great, fun place. It's open through October 8th.

We'll be in NYC on 8/29 and 8/30. I think we'll do the double decker bus tour based on the recommendations on this thread and also others. I've been to the website, I have the brochure but no where does it tell you where you can buy tickets. I've tried calling with no luck at all. So my question is this: Can you buy tickets at any on/off location or do you have to to go the main place (can't remember where it is offhand ... )
There is a Grey Line Bus ticket office on 8th Avenue between 46th and 49th (not exactly sure which street, I think 47th/48th). It has all the tickets plus tons of brochures. There are also lots of workers (for the bus companies) selling the tickets throughout the streets of Times Square. You can also buy the tickets online and get additional information.

I can only answer about The Color Purple. It was great, I highly recommend it. Don't pay full price because those tickets are discounted already.
