  1. Incorrect. Cagney's is NOT open for Specialty Dining Lunch on any ship.

On the Star, Cagney's/Mondernos are used as the private dining room for the Suites for breakfast and lunch.

The only restaurants that may be open for specialty dining lunch is the sushi bar or Teppanyaki. They use to open Ginza and the sushi bar on sea days, but more recently, they may use the space for other activities (e.g., $10 sale).

I've seen Cagney's lunch menus. I guess they're for the First Class passengers, then. I stand corrected.

  2. I just got the decline email so I figured I'll share the details.

    Ship: NCL Escape

    Sail Date: 1/6/18

    Original room: Interior (IC)

    Bid for: Balcony

Bid amount: $55-65/pp. Fluctuated a few time but settled on $65.

RESULT: Declined 48 hours before sailing

Obviously I would have loved to surprise my brother with a balcony for his first cruise but we will have a great trip regardless and will just have more reason to spend as much time as possible exploring all the ship has to offer. And I just made $130 that I had already spent in my mind so that's a nice bonus. There were a lot of balcony and mini suite rooms available for booking as of a few days ago so I thought there was a chance we'd get it.

Smart. I wouldn't go more than $50-75 for a balcony from inside.

  3. I haven’t been on NCL in two years and have two future cruises planned with them. I’ve read a lot of talk about bidding on cabins and I’ve never heard of it before. Clearly it’s bidding to get a better cabin, but how does it work?

At a certain point before the cruise you'll get an email offering a chance to bid on upgrades. There's a thread discussing the process that's hundreds of pages long, so good luck trying to figure it out!

  4. Wrestlemania?

I thought that had gone the way of leisure suits, disco, and Dodo birds.

    Au contraire...

It gets bigger every year. It's an entire week of events now. The stadium show on Sunday, then full arena shows on Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday.

I only do Saturday and Sunday. But many do all five nights.

Two years ago, they did 101,000 at the Cowboys stadium.

  5. We are leaving Minnesota on Super Bowl Sunday. Hopefully we won't run into delays with the big game in town. We are leaving that day for a cruise leaving on Monday. Living in MinneSNOWta we always leave a day early in the winter months. Hopefully we will be watching the Vikings playing at US Bank Stadium in Minnesota from our hotel room in Miami that night. :D

You might have had a harder time the day after when everyone would be leaving.

I have never been to the Super Bowl, but I go to Wrestlemania every year, and it's in the same stadiums. I never have had a delay at the airport the next morning.
