An unexpired green card is sufficient, just as easy with it as it is for a US passport.
yes, but he does not have a passport at all, which from what I am reading...it sounds like a non citizen is required to have a passport to cruise.

So, just a little backstory as to why I made the post. My boyfriend and I have airline vouchers we can use to take a trip. Yay! Free trip! But as I started looking at the cost of hotel, food, and transportation and suddenly the free trip is starting to add up. I had this idea that maybe we could fly somewhere and take a cruise instead. I can find a cruise for less than I'm finding for JUST hotel. Unfortunately, as I have found out....that's not going to work with his residency/citizenship status :(.
So now I'm trying to plan a non cruise vacation and I'm overwhelmed. Some options are Puerto Rico, St. Thomas (seems like that one might be expensive) or Miami. -

As he is not a US citizen, he is a Spanish citizen, and needs a Spanish passport, which his parents should have taken out for him long ago.
Funny enough...after some research...he is not a Spanish citizen either as neither of his parents were Spanish citizens when he was born (Mom from El Salvador and Dad from Italy (he thinks)) Apparently Spanish citizenship is not a birthright

Thank you. So everything I'm reading says he needs to update his green card before he can cruise. But it's also saying a passport is REQUIRED for non citizens, is that correct? He does not have a passport. I know he went on a. Cruise several years ago... is the passport requirement a new rule?
[He was born in Spain, but moved to the US as an infant. He has never been out of the country since and has no passport]

Hello. I think I already know the answer to this but I figured someone here might be able to confirm. I am thinking about booking a cruise for my boyfriend and I. He is a US resident but not yet a citizen. His greencard expired recently, but he has his application submitted for citizenship (which can take up to 12 months to process.) Can he cruise without a passport AND without up to date greencard? Would he be able to use just a social security card and driver's license as documentation for the cruise?

I am curious if the cruise industry is shying away from placing different parties together at dinner. I am on a Celebrity cruise right now. When booking, I requested a table for 6-8. They put us at a table for two. The same thing happened on cruise in December(Royal.)
Is this the new norm? I always liked dining with strangers and getting to know them throughout the cruise.

Thank you everyone :-).

Does Celebrity offer an internet package for the week? What is the cost, and can I purchase it once on board?
-
What would be the best time to get there?
-
Don't worry; it is not a big deal. The porters have blank luggage tags and will fill them out for you upon request. The check-in procedure just takes a couple extra minutes if you did not complete the on-line check-in process, but is nothing serious or to be concerned about.
Thank you so much for the reply. So, I'll just stand in the line like everyone else, and then when I get to the check in counter, I tell them I didn't do my online check in? And they can do it while I'm standing there?
-
I was irresponsible and forgot to do my online check in and print luggage tags :loudcry::loudcry::loudcry::loudcry:. Now, it's too late (cruising on Sunday.) Past cruises, I have had everything ready to go, lined up at the pier with my folder of printed documents, checked in, and got on.
What happens now that I don't have my luggage tags and online check in completed? Where do I go and what is the process?
It will be my first Celebrity cruise and my first cruise out of Bayonne, so I'm a little nervous as it is.

Thank you so much for all the replies! This is all very helpful!

My husband and I are booked on our first Celebrity Cruise in May. We will be on the Summit going to Bermuda. I figure Celebrity is similar to Royal Caribbean in a lot of ways. I'm sorry if these questions have all been asked a million times, but...
Can I use my Crown & Anchor (RC) status for priority check in with Celebrity?
I've never been on a cruise where the ship docked for 3 days. What is it like on the ship on those days? Is there usually things going on, on board?
-
I'd get to the terminal around 10:30am.
Thank you!!

Leaving on a cruise tomorrow!!! yay! This is my first experience cruising out of Tampa. My set sail pass says 10:30 - 3:00 for boarding.
What would be the best time to get there and avoid a long line? I wanted to go early, but my husband thinks lines/wait time might be the longest if we go earlier.
-
Well that stinks for someone who just wants to check their email a couple times a day :-(.
-
I see they have introduced VOOM internet since I last cruised. I assume that means it's faster? Can you still pay by the minute or do you have to purchase the package for the length of the cruise?
-
Absolutely agree!

That's a neat story about your fist post.
My first post was only three years ago. It was going to be my 2nd cruise. It seems like so long ago now since I am about to go on my 10th cruise.
10 in three years!!! That's awesome!
We are hoping since we are a little more established in our careers, we can start to take two cruises a year.

It has been about 3 years since my last cruise. I had to create a new cc screen name, because it had been so long since I logged in (I couldn't remember what my old one was!)
I did some digging last night and found it. I went back through old posts and it made me smile "Hi I am 18 and my boyfriend and I are going on our first cruise!" I was SO excited.
Fast forward to today, we are in our 30s with two kids, and a mortgage and I am still SO excited when we get to cruise. It has been a long almost 3 years since our last one and we are long overdue.

We are a family of 4 and we booked last minute for a cruise 12/17. The early traditional dining is full with a closed waitlist, so we had to go for My Time. One of our favorite things about cruising has always been sitting with new people at dinner and getting to know them and our waiters over the week. With my time, if we make reservations at the same time every night, will we be put at the same table? Will we get the same waiters?

I️ don’t think it’s complicated if you have more than one adult, or the kids are old enough, have them wait at the hotel while you return the car

oh duh. lol I don't know why I was thinking we all had to go to return the car. It makes way more sense to just send my husband and then I can stay with the kids.
What documentation? Non citizen
in Carnival Cruise Lines

yes! He actually applied sent everything in for his citizenship a few weeks ago.
