  1. Hi, my family and I are going on a cruise Wednesday Dec 7th to Cozumel, and someone told me you can’t have a certain amount of fluid oz of Toiletries And I was wondering if that was true? We’re not flying, and we will be on a Carnival cruise.

  2. I just came back from 14 days in western Europe with a carry on bag and a messenger bag. 7 day river cruise with days built in before and after to wander on my own. I did laundry twice on the trip. One pair of jeans' date=' one pair of black slacks, enough tops and undies for 6 days, a grey cardigan and a black cardigan, 2 scarves, 2 pairs of shoes - one worn and one packed. I also had a heavier coat and a rain jacket. So, yes, it can be done easily. I ran out of lotion and toothpaste, so I bought more at a local store. The basic toiletries are pretty universal.

Yes, I got tired of my limited wardrobe. No, I did not wear filthy clothes, nor did I ever feel out of place or under dressed.

That said, what is your travel style? Are you a drive to the airport and catch a cab directly to the ship kind of traveler? Or are you a get off the plane and take a train to a different city where you'll catch a bus to the neighborhood your rented apartment is in kind of traveler? I spend time on my own before and after a cruise wandering around and seeing as much as possible. The fact that I have to manage my own bags on trains and busses (and walking them a few blocks) means that I am limited to what I can physically lift and carry. If you don't have to worry about that, feel free to take as much as you want.[/quote']

We will be porting out of Galveston Texas December 7th, but we will be staying in a hotel the day before.

  3. That means that you will have a bill at the end for all the alcoholic drinks consumed. In my case, it would be zero.

I recommend to come to an agreement with your co-traveler(s) about how much to spend on alcoholic drinks before you even go on the cruise or at least on the first day.

A few beers on Cozumel are a much better bargain, but your ship probably does not permit you to bring alcohol on board. Ask on the cruise line's forum.

    Enjoy your very first vacation!

    Thank you!

  4. We never had a drink package, does yours include alcohol? If not and you order alcohol, it gets charged to your onboard account. May add up considerably, but will be paid with your credit card. Don't go over your credit limit.

The one we bought doesn’t, but there was one that was for alcohol

  5. How does everyone pack light?? Im trying to pack the least amount as possible but I also like to overprepare.

It’s only a four day cruise, but as I said I overprepare.

  6. That is very generous for a short cruise with everything prepaid. You may need a few dollars for tips for the guides and a taxi to the port in Florida. to save money: Curb your shopping, stay out of the ship casino. Don't use the phone or internet on the ship. Wait until you are on land. The crew always heads for the free Wi-Fi in port.

Thank you! Do you have any other advice?

  7. Welcome to Cruise Critic!

As the ship is a cashless society, except for additional tips, and we know nothing about your tastes in tipping, shopping off ship, or anything else, hard to give you a figure. But an extra $100 to $150 or so (in small bills) per person will probably cover most everything.

Would there be any other costs on the end of bill that we are forgetting?

  8. HI! My family and I are first time cruisers, my boyfriend has been on some, but the rest of us haven’t. We aren’t sure how much money to bring for the end of trip bill, and spending money. We prepaid for the excursion, gratuities, and a drink package. The cruise is four days, and to Cozumel
