I highly recommend Rony's Tours.  He has been our guide for 10+ trips and has become a friend.  His vehicles are nice with a/c.  He can accommodate 2 people or large groups.  He has friendly drivers that work with him.  He has a great option for a private tour.  Just $25 per person for a driver for your group for the entire day.  Then, pay as you go for the sights you'd like to see.   He also has other tours if you don't mind joining a group.  We have always felt safe and have many wonderful memories of Roatan.  I'm sure you will have a great day with Rony!

Thank you for a great review. I am hoping the other 6 travel companions will agree on our February cruise. If not, I know what husband and I are doing.

  2. I would absolutely NOT do business with this PCC again.

In fact, I would report him to management - he should NEVER contact people and reveal someone else's vacation plans without their EXPLICIT permission. It doesn't matter if they cruised together in the past or not - it should never have happened.

To be clear, he, the PCC, did not call the other couple. We three couples have the same PCC so when my husband booked a cruise and then my friend booked her cruise, he assumed when he heard from the next couple that they were booking the same cruise.

  3. I cant even understand why B and dh would even want to cruise with anyone from work if she was so upset. Not saying anyone is right or wrong but why would she even want to cruise with you guys unless A isnt going perhaps?

Can you just say something to them or change date? I would hate to take my vacation with people I didnt want to cruise with. Good luck!

I don't know why she went on that first cruise. On the next cruise, we decided not to invite them. It was pure coincidence that they called our shared PCC to book their own cruise and he told them about our Hawaii plans.

  4. LaCucina is the worst. We are from the Boston area and we have real italian food here. NOt sure what they are serving at LaCucina. They used to have a salmon dish and a carbonara, both gone now.

I grew up in Watertown, MA btw. I have to agree on LaCucina. On the Epic before Christmas, my DH was hoping for chicken part or some other red sauce meal. That is all gone.

We really liked Cagney's this time and we also tried Teppanyaki since we were with a large group.

I would say Teppanyaki was really good. We came home and went to a local place and were not impressed. Liked it better at sea.

  5. I talked to our PCC today and he apologized for letting couple number 3 know about the trip. He said that after we booked and couple 2 booked, he asked couple three if they were going to Hawaii also. When they said no, he realized they hadn't been invited.

He did apologize and said lesson learned.

I'll talk with the other couple if they ask directly.

  6. Ok. Kind of off topic, but are you saying that friend A calls friend B's husband her work husband? If that's what you are saying-- totally weird. I think it is incredibly insensitive for someone to call someone else's husband their work husband. Especially to the actual wife's face. No class. She was right to ask that. It's not territorial at all.

Actually, A calls B's husband her brother. We are teachers and our students can't figure out how the white lady and black man are siblings.

B is the one who accused A of calling him a work husband. It was all very weird and made those of us who heard the rant uncomfortable.

  7. I am the OP. For more information, the husband said to my coworker, "when are you going to Hawaii?" That's a really specific statement and not fishing.

His wife did call our PCC to book a cruise and I can imagine him saying, "oh, are you going to Hawaii?"

As far as having a beer, the wife, in the middle of the photo gallery, goes off on my friend asking why she refers to her husband as a work husband. I swear, if she could have peed on her husband to mark her territory, she would have. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable. I for one, don't care to see them again.

  8. Before Christmas DH and I took a cruise with 3 other couples. One person in each couple was a coworker of mine. We had a decent time but decided that we would not travel with one of the couples again.

A month later, we plan a cruise with my BFF and her DH but decide not to tell ANYONE about it.

Today at work, the husband of couple we won't travel with asks my coworker about our next cruise. None of us told him (or his wife) about this. We think our cruise consultant may have told her about our cruise when she called to book a cruise for them. I am not happy.

Was this even ethical if our consultant told them about our cruise? I'm ready to find another consultant if my privacy was violated.

    Arghhh!

  9. Not what you're looking for, I'm sure but in June my DH and I sailed on the Breakaway from NYC to Bermuda. We had invited his family along since they live in Maine and we are in Tennessee. We have sailed Boston to Bermuda before and are used to and love sailing with family.

Well, his sisters decided they couldn't come, too expensive, yada, yada, they booked out of Boston in October. Ok. But wait, we'll come spend the weekend in New York before your cruise they tell us. Great.

Have a nice weekend with the two sisters(in laws) and two of the nieces. Sunday comes. See you later, love you, bye! Off we go to do laundry and they go off to the airport.

Board the ship and DH and I walk through O'Sheehan's to get to the dining room when we both see a woman that looks like his sister. In our brains we both think, hey that looks like DS. Wait, that's all four of them. What are they doing here? They don't let people on board ships to say good bye. What the hey? They crashed our vacation.

After we got over the shock and awe, we were really happy. We spoiled their surprise on us but the real surprise was yet to come.

They booked a late balcony guarantee. Their cabin? Same number, one deck below. We said someone had a hand in that.

  10. Thanks for the ideas guys. Do you know how to arrange the photographer? Do you "hire" the photographer for the event or how does it work?

Oh, you don't have to hire them if you do it out in the hallways. Photographers are set up along the promenade to take all sorts of pictures.

If in the dining room you could speak with the maitre de to make sure the photograher is near.

If you want photos at another location, just go to the photo area and ask.

Might be NCL to propose on the dock in port.

  11. Hi All,

The things I enjoy most at ports are snorkeling, food, and beaches :-) Also, this would by my 3rd Carnival Cruise...I've never sailed on any of these ships before so any input on them would be great! :D

    8 Day on Splendor (Miami)

Visits: Grand Turk, San Juan (been there), St. Kitts, & St. Maarten

    $514/person

I have not been on the Splendor so can't speak to the ship. The price per person is good. I love cruising so, while 7 days is good, 8 days is better.

I like sailing out of Miami, however, why fly into Ft. Lauderdale for better airfare.

You have only been to one port so seeing new ports is fun. Grand Turk and St. Maarten have good beaches.

I haven't been to the other two port either. I can imagine San Juan has good food.

    Enjoy!

  12. I go to the pool or Waterworks as if I am going to the beach. I bring a tote bag and my card, eyeglasses, book, etc are in the bottom. I don't worry too much if someone is going to steal my stuff.

If someone did take my card and try to charge something I would have the charge taken off right away and a replacement card issued.

  13. We booked the Jewel for this weekend with an amenity package as follows:

Photos - 20 Complimentary Photos Any Size

    Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Dining, French Restaurant for 2 Guests

Dining, Italian Restaurant for 2 Guests

Dining, Steak Restaurant for 2 Guests

    Bottle of Wine

I am wondering how the photos offer works. I don't need 20 pictures but I wonder if I can buy pictures for other people traveling who don't have the same package. Has anyone sailed and used these amenities? How have you liked them?

    Thanks.

  14. Just curious ... we are traditionalists and enjoy having a set dining time with the same wait staff every night. Can we still get that on Norwegian, or is there absolutely no way? Would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks.

I was on the Getaway recently and I remember seeing something like that offered. It was for seatings between 5:30 and maybe 7 only.

I will look on the weekend when we are on the Jewel and see if that is offered. It was billed as seating for people who want a regular dining time and regular wait staff.

  15. We were on the Getaway last week. Luckily, we did not become sick.

Made sure we used hand sanitizer at restaurants and LOVED the sinks at the entrances to the Garden Buffet. Also paid attention to use tongs and serving spoons and avoid those where people did not. I am constantly amazed by people who ignore the tongs or serving utensil and pick food up with their fingers.
