There is a $7 delivery charge for "Ship Eat," which is VV talk for room service.  This is waived for suites or if you buy something that has a charge.  For example, if you buy a specialty coffee for $5, they waive the delivery charge.  There is no gratuity, no charge for food....it is a flat delivery fee.  How long it takes depends on when you order.  We've had it take 15 minutes or 45 minutes.  Yes, you can order breakfast the night before.

Good to know, thanks.  We sail in 2 weeks!

My philosophy is I always want to be within walking distance of the port if the worst happens. POM had the marathon that caused chaos. We are staying in downtown Miami. If traffic is insane, we can walk with luggage if necessary like many others did. I prefer backup plans and make Plan B, C, D, and more.

Do you have some names of hotels that are close enough to walk to the port?  I haven't been to Miami port before but it looks confusing and not easy to get to.  Thank you!

  3. Good to know.  We haven't booked the flight yet.  I'm still trying to figure out getting back and forth to Ft Lauderdale airport, where to stay the night before the cruise and all of that stuff.  I'm probably not going to book the flight until 1 or 2pm that day.  I guess we can just Uber up there if I can't find a shuttle.

  4. We are going to be flying home out of Ft Lauderdale airport and I'm trying to estimate a good time to book a flight.  We are supposed to be back in Miami around 6:30 am Saturday morning.  How long does it take to get off the ship?  Can you carry you own luggage off and leave earlier like you can on Royal Caribbean?  Any information would be appreciated.

  5. I am currently looking for a policy too.  When they ask for the total cost, that would include the airfare and hotel, right?  We haven't booked them yet, just the cruise portion.  I should be able to estimate those costs because the trip is 12 weeks away and I don't want to wait to purchase the insurance.

  6. Thank you for all of the comments.  After looking at the flights, we have more options and better prices out of Fort Lauderdale.  It sounds like you can stay on the ship for a while that morning as well if they are serving brunch.  Usually you are encouraged to exit.  We are leaving the ship on a Saturday and there are many flights in FL to choose from.  I'm now thinking a mid afternoon flight would be our best option.  I just need to find our transportation options.

  7. Hi Bruce,

Thank you for the website, I will check it out.  Its been awhile since I have been to Ft Lauderdale.  I'm guessing since the distances are short that they dont really need a company to do shuttles.  I'm not as worried about getting a free shuttle as I would like to be able to walk off the ship and be able to get on a shuttle to the airport like we did at Port Canaveral.  Thanks for your suggestions.

  8. We are flying into FLL in June 2019 and cruising out of Port Everglades.  We will need a hotel the night before the cruise and transportation to the ship then to the airport.  At Port Canaveral we used Go Port Canaveral for all of that.  Is there anything like that in Fort Lauderdale?  Or is there  a website or place I can find more information?  Thanks in advance for your help!

All the way to the lower left or southwest side you should see a line extending out from the resort . That is the pier .

Thank you. I see labels over there for pier entrance so that must be it!

  11. Hi all

    Will try this again

We are on Oasis May 6 and have many cruises on RCL but first big ship.

Does anyone know times for shows throughout the week?

Also we were told cannot make reservations for the shows until final payment? if so I guess on line?

We have a Grand Suite and looking forward to cruise and perks.....thanks for any info

    Tami and Jerry from kansas

If you go to Cruise Planner on the Royal Caribbean website you can see days and times and make reservations. You should be able to do it now. We will be on the Oasis in June and have only paid the deposit and I booked our reservations earlier this week.

Keep reading these boards, I have learned so much from them. Enjoy your cruise.

  12. Thank you for the map it's very helpful. How did you know what you wanted to do and where you were going to go? Your report is helpful, I just wish they gave us more information. Is it crazy trying to get off the ship when you first get there?

    Thanks,

    Diane
