  1. As I research Caribbean islands most seem to require recent PCR testing, which would necessitate quite a few expensive onboard tests on our December 14-day cruise out of Barbados to nearby islands.  Has anyone experienced whether PCR is required on a port stop same as it is for arriving by air (govt pages don’t specify)?  And if so do bubble tours still require a PCR test as well or do they get around that requirement?

  2. Just read this article that claims that one third of Tripadvisor (Cruise Critic's parent company) reviews are fake. Makes me wonder if the same is true for CC. My gut says no. What do you think?

  3. Now that you’ve taken the cruise would you mind sharing the answer you discovered? I have the same question about booking the appointment. I don’t want to prepay for the relaxing wave for my husband and myself if I can’t get it done on the second sea day. Also, how was the “dr consults....were they trying to sell you? Thanks!

  4. If you have not done so, read Pete's blog, http://www.theinsidecabin.com/ . He and his wife did the WV on Amsterdam in 2016 and will be doing the 2018 also on HAL. At the top of his webpage click on "World Cruise Reference". He gave lots of good information.

One thing about booking early is that prices can rise. For the 2018 HAL WV I have a DA cabin. Earlier this year the price had increased by $10,000. On the other hand, I have seen some years where there were good sales.

Thanks so much! I found his 3 part very detailed series on the cost of a WC, and his spreadsheet and I think that’s the most informative article I’ve come across! Excellent referral....thank you!!!

  5. Great thread! I will follow and glean all the wisdom as we are researching the same (definitely part of the fun!) though probably won’t be able to go until 2022 or 2023....trying to be sure our youngest “adult” kids will be self-sustaining before we hit the seas for some serious “us” time. Also want to make some test runs on exact ships we’re considering and weird as it seems in some notoriously rough seas to be sure we can handle rougher than we’ve experienced before.
