Just noticed that the itinerary has changed for my families upcoming cruise.  We are no long going to any of the ports of call we originally booked for (Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel).  Not very excited at all with the new itinerary.  Does carnival offer any refunds or reduced fare for those who booked / paid in full already but not getting the ports they booked for?

    what are the new ports?

It specified two days, not 48 hrs.  And they gave the example of if your cruise leaves on a Saturday, you can get tested any time on Thurs or Fri (or even Sat).

going to be fun finding a test place open on thanksgiving  and with us flying in on Friday wipes that day out too pretty much too. this could be a deal breaker for us.

For me this has been an evolving issue for a week now, being the super planner and control freak that I am it has been very frustrating. I booked our family cruise almost a year in advance, made sure everyone had passports and bought trip insurance, not Carnival because I wanted high dollar medical, including medical evacuation.

Thursday we will hit 30 days out and our last chance to cancel and at least get a 50% refund, that decision has been totally stressing me out. This is a big deal and a lot of money for us, we probably won’t get a do  over if we don’t go and don’t get a refund. I have come to what I think is a logical conclusion,  I have no control over this!

We are not going to cancel, if the ship goes we go, the Vista April 4th. I am going to put my faith in Carnival and if the situation gets to the point we are seriously putting our lives in danger they will cancel, therefore triggering a full refund. I am putting my faith in Carnival mostly because it just doesn’t make good business sense to do otherwise.

As we wait I will hope and pray the Coronavirus causes as little damage as possible which is the real concern. The cruise is a minor glitch and money is just that money, it’s already spent so obviously not important to my family’s well being and safety.

Happy cruising everyone, this too shall pass and keep sharing the latest info.

I'm on the Vista the week before you so I know how you're feeling.

  4. Just off the Freedom last Jan 8 day Eastern, Fantastic trip. We will be making a reservation today for the Freedom again, going out of San Juan P.R. southern route March 2019. Just looking for info on the Cruise port, Airport, and Hotels. Any info would help, Have a year away, just looking to get the ball rolling.. 10 Cruise trips under our belts number 11 next. First time to cruise out of San Juan P.R. Thanks..

We cruised in August out of San Juan on the Adventure and are booked 3/10/19 on the Freedom. We stayed at the Hyatt House in August and have the Hyatt Place booked for next year. Both are very close to the port. Not much right around the hotels but a great burger place and store within a 10min walk. Cab ride was about $26 plus $1 per bag from airport to hotel and $10 plus $1 bag from hotel to port.

  5. We had a corner aft (9390) last year. No obstruction looking out but some looking down at lower decks. We loved it, would definitely do it again.

I'm looking at suite 9392. I assume it would be as good as the one you had right next door?

    thanks

  6. we had 2 comedians onboard, one on the first part, one show on the second part, all really good. They do have lots of trivia contests.

I booked the Deluxe Beverage Package precruise and got the price of 44.00 per person per day before 18% gratuity was added, it was about 360.00 total for one person. The price of the package depends on your sailing, but i think 38-44.00 per person per day before gratuity is typical

    thank you very much

  7. I'll be boarding Saturday so if you have any other specific questions, let me know and I'll do my best to find the answer for you!

    hi

I'm planning a trip later this year . could you tell me if they have a comedy show on board and do they have trivia contests. Also could you pass on the drink packages options and costs.

    thanks so much

  8. I really enjoyed your review! We are going on this ship in September :) I was interested in your MDR experience. Did they have the American feast on this ship or was it the regular menu? Also, did they have dessert options like Baked Alaska and Bitter's and Blanc? There was some talk yesterday on facebook that some of the better desserts were not being offered on their cruise and I am hoping on an 8 day cruise that it was not applied here. TYIA

    Bartrise

Which cruise in September are you going on?

  9. I'm going in September, so I guess I will know by then. I have not yet had the American table menu, but I do look forward to a change. I know some don't like it, but I am usually not too hard to please when it comes to food:D I am ok with the old standard menu too, but I do look forward to some new things.

what week are you going in September?

  10. Hi Gribb, I'm not the OP, but I can answer your questions.

    1) They are not using the American Table menu on the Splendor.

    2) They charge for soda, alcohol and the optional "Steakhouse Selections" menu items that come from the steakhouse. Those are special items on a side menu. Most things are free.

    3) There are some new items available for purchase (mostly hot items). Most items are still free.

    Hope that helps!

    thank you very much.

  11. I haven't cruised in a few years but going in September for my 50th birthday. I'm trying to talk friends into coming but I keep reading about changes since my last cruise so I don't want to misinform them on things. So I apologize for any repeat question.

    1. Is it American Table in the MDR?

    2. Do they charge for anything on the menu in the MDR?

    3. Have they started to charge for room service items ?

Thanks for any info you have..
