  1. Much better to carry on not only because of possible breakage but you could delay delivery. Bags can be pulled aside and sent to the naughty room. You would be called to identify to make sure you have legal wine and not liquor.

If you don’t want to carry around plan to board after 1:00. Cabins are available at 1:00.

I just realized that this could happen .. I am sure it could be a problem if they suspect it's liquor. We've never actually brought any wine on board before. I'll sweetly ask the hubs to take care of carrying the champagne in his back pack! Thank you so much for mentioning we could be delayed! First time out of this port (which is cool because we live an hour away!) and I'm unsure how well embarkation actually works.

  2. It's recommended (not required, but it is a rookie mistake to not do so) because bottles can break. Suitcases can and do get thrown around. We always carry ours. Almost everyone does. Get a wine carrier bag or put them in a backpack. Easy enough.

Ah...I didn't even think about them being broken. Thank you for your quick reply!!

  3. I've scheduled (3 so far) restaurants on our cruise that are upfee. Giovannis, 150 Park and First Nite Done Right (not sure where we will end up).

I'm confused about how we order. Are we able to try several things or is it similar to how Prix Fixe menu works in a nice restaurant where you order an app, salad, entree and dessert for a set price?. Hubs wants to know how they REALLY feel about you when ordering 2 appetizers and 2 desserts LOL!..

Lastly I am bringing (2) special bottles of champagne on the ship to have for dinners. I understand there is a $15 corkage fee. I wondered the best way to get these bottles chilled ahead of time for us and brought to our table in a nice ice bucket when we arrive for dinner. Would we just drop them off at the restaurant ahead of time? Would this be something that is appropriate to ask our room steward for assistance with? :champagne-toast::bottle-pop::champagne-toast:

Thank you so much everyone! I love this site.

  4. I'm a bit confused about how MyTime dining works. I've watched a couple of videos and it seems if you don't have assigned dining and choose MyTime you have a very, very long wait (one video was over an hour wait to even be seated.

If we choose our MyTime dinnertimes (I did on Royal Carib. online cruise planner) is that not like having an actual reservation time?

I understand with the huge volume of people we would have some longer waits than usual with a reservation but does having a MyTime actual dinner time really make any difference at all?

If there is a huge line when we head to the dining room how does MyTime even work? Is there a Maitre D that handles MyTime? I will feel very strange and pushy walking up to the front of the line to even ask questions LOL! Trying to find out particulars ahead of time.

Lastly, I understand all the main dining rooms honor MyTime, right? There is not one single place we are supposed to go to?

I have scheduled (3) upfee restaurants just so we will hopefully have actual dinner times and be able to catch shows.

I love this forum! I've learned so much about our upcoming Oasis cruise.

  5. We were on Oasis last week for our anniversary, which fell while the ship was docked at Labadee. We stayed on the ship and had plenty to do, hot tubs to ourselves and restaurants not crowded.

    Enjoy your day, very relaxing,

Oh my! you two are serious cruisers!!! wow.. we are only on #4. First RCL for us. Thank you so much for this awesome info! We are on Oasis leaving this Sunday!

  7. Apologies if I am posting in the wrong place. I could not find how to post on a thread for a particular ship..

My hubs and I are going to be on Oasis for our 20th Anniversary. Our actual Anniversary falls on Labadee port day. I am pretty sure we will want to stay on the ship and I wondered will we be able to get a nice drink to have by the pool (are any bars open around lunch time?) that day if we choose to stay on ship?

I understand dining rooms are more than likely closed on in port days but what about places like the hot dog shop or even rooms service lunch?

Thank you so much for advice! We are so crazy excited about spending time on Oasis!
