  1. We are having same dilemma. Primarily due to port times (1:30 pm - 9pm). First, I'm not wanting to be out after dark. I live in a relatively safe community, but I don't like going out to my local WalMart after nightfall, let alone in an unfamiliar place. Second, hate dodging vendors. Third, Don't want to pay day fee of 50-100 pp for maybe 2 or 3 hours on a beach. It will probably be a game day decision... Do we feel like taking a short stroll to Junkanoo public and Tiki bar or staying on ship? just not sure yet...

  2. We went on the Carnival Freedom last May. loved that ship. Wanted to book her again, but due to rehab this year, had schedule conflicts. For ladies: sun dresses or skirt/ nice top is fine. Men: non denim pants with button up or polo. Add tie for formal nights. We saw some ppl really dressed to the nines... so if that's your thang... then go all out.

  3. We have booked both balcony, view, inside cabins. For me, while the balcony was nice.... we used it so little it is not worth the extra cost. We much prefer lounging on an open deck. For our next cruise, booked an inside cabin. Of course, I know ppl who only use a private balcony to avoid the crowds. Personal choice, as we love ppl watching and the occasional chit chat with other passengers. You will find much good advice on the "ports of call" pages here on cruise critic. We mostly go on our own, find a public or day pass resort -- many of whom have activities included. We do cruise ship tours if something seems really fun/different (Water river tubing in Jamaica).... good luck. Don't stress it, cruising is too much fun to worry...

  4. We walked all over last May on our stop. It was a VERY hot and humid day in early May. Did the Hemmingway House tour, then to Southern most point. It was a pretty long day with the heat. We stopped at a few spots for "Libation" and "rehydration" on the way back. LOL... one tip: make sure to use restroom before heading back to ship. We were on the Carnival Freedom, and they only had one portal open for re-entry. Everyone has to go thru ship security and scanning.... It was a LONG SLOW line. The beers consumed at Sloppy Joe #%^&* well... enuf said.

  5. Just need clarification.... So there's a place to rent chairs, use restrooms at Junkanoo public beach? I read somewhere on these boards about a Tiki Bar that was recommended. Do they have tables/chairs? thanks for any info
