  1. Just seen a report on TV about air quality on cruise ships. Seems that levels of pollution on some cruise ships' decks are worse than in the world's most polluted cities.

One cruise ship can emit as much particulate matter as a million cars in a day. Air on the deck downwind of, and directly next to the ship's funnels, had 84,000 ultra-fine particulates per cubic centimetre. Directly next to the funnels on the deck, the numbers rocketed to 144,000 with a peak at 226,000. (n)(n)

These are levels that you would expect to see in the most polluted cities in the world like Shanghai, Delhi and so on. These particulates are harmful for health and the environment.

This came to me as a shock. Always thought being in the middle of the ocean on a cruise ship was very healthy. Now I'm worried :(:(clear.png?emoji-frown-1741

  3. I haven't seen everyone one this cruise but what I have seen is the average age being 70-80 age group. The majority of people I have talked to are from Canada.

I know there is at least one younger couple onboard right now.

There are from Germany. The guy is end 40s, his girlfriend early 30s (blond).

Hello lias, are there any activities later in the evening such as a Pool party ?

    Anyone dancing in Horizons ?

  4. Is Oceania serving freshly squeezed orange juice ?

I love to have the juice from oranges squeezed freshly that morning.

But I think they still serve "100% freshly squeezed orange juice" from a machine.

This orange juice is stored in giant holding tanks, and is industrially-produced orange juice. This juice is also completely flavorless.

I hope this is changed ?

  5. Just returned from a cruise on the Eclipse, Aqua Class. (3rd time Aqua Class)

I think it's time for BLU to change the menu.

I really loved eating in a smaller restaurant, but was disappointed in the menu.

As Aqua Class is more expensive, I'm not really sure why I should book Aqua Class again. Is it worth the extra cost ???

Esp. in the Caribbean, where I make less use of the Persian Garden.

  6. Can someone tell me the age demographic of the cruisers? My husband and I are in our early 40's and considering a cruise with the Marina from Auckland to Papeete in March 2016.

We have sailed with Oceania Marina before in the Caribbean and Transatlantic, and the ship had zero nightlife. By 11pm, the ship was asleep.

I was just wondering. Will this be the same in the South Pacific, or is there a difference because this itinerary is so special, and it attracts a bit younger crowd from maybe New Zealand or Australia ?

  7. I'm considering taking a 12-day cruise roundtrip from Benoa (Indonesia) to Singapore in March 2015 but my concern is the weather .

I've never been to Asia but I understand March is still the wet season.

I'm okay with daily rainstorms which start/stop periodically, but I just don't want to spend all in the rain. (no time for poolside sunning, etc.).

Would greatly appreciate anyone's opinions on their experiences in Asia during March. thank you!

Cruise stops in Komodo, Bali, Java and Singapore.

  8. Planning to book a cruise with the Millennium but

    Concerned after reading many reviews.

    - The ship revealed rust on all parts of the ship including the cabin balcony and furniture and carpeting that needed replacement throughout the ship.

    - Cabins were lack lustre and tired looking.

    - The ship is old, tired and lacked "soul" especially at night.

    - The Oceanview restaurant was poor, lacking choice & often cold.

    - Our room was of a poor standard, curtains coming of the rails, handles coming off the doors

    - We would not sail on the Millie again until there is a complete refurbishment and the ship has a friendlier look to it

Having previously cruised on Celebrity Equinox and Oceania Cruises.

Can I expect that the Millenium would be of similar standard ?

    What are your thoughts ?

  9. We stayed at the Embassy Suites very close to Miami Airport. Very convenient. The hotel was excellent.

Huge rooms, with sitting area, large atrium & nice pool area.

Breakfast was ok & was included in the price.

    It was very reasonably priced.

A complimentary shuttle which was free runs every 30 mins & picks you up at the airport.

Also they have a shuttle which runs at 11:00 and 12:00 daily to the cruise terminal. Only cost $10 pp.

There is a link to the hotel on this page :

  10. Has someone done the Loko Bus West Beach Hopping Tour

    with Irie Tours ?

It's a 6 hour West Island tour instead of the 3 hour East Tour.

On the west tour you go to Cas Abou Beach, Santa Cruz Beach,

Playa Forti (cliff jumping), Knip Beach.

    $69 drinks and lunch included.
