  1. Hi!

I’m new at this and I’m not sure where to post this. I’m a smoker and im looking to go on the Carnival Horizon. I know where the smoking areas are EXCEPT how the casino works. While on the Dream, I was able to sit on one side of the bar and smoke (not gambling)  According to the Horizon, it says I can smoke WHILE playing. Has anyone been on the Horizon and smoked at their casino bar?

    thank you!

  2. Great job! Thank you for the review.

Does this tour get away from from the crowds snorkeling at the cruise ships? I’ve heard some of the best reefs are there’s but I’d rather take my chances and go to a different reef where my flippers aren’t flapping on everyone else lol!

  3. If you drink a lot of soda, it's worth it to get the bottomless bubbles. Service in the dining room shouldn't take long to get a soda. But if memory serves me correctly it takes the same amount of time to get a soda on lido deck as it did for the alcoholic drinks ... but we were ordering both at the same time.

I went to order my Bottomless Bubbles before we sail out and I’m told everyone in the room must buy it. What? Why? That’s ridiculous. I think it’s the same way for the Cheers package which is even more outrageous.

  4. I did this excursion in September through Carnival. The boat ride is wonderful - about an hour each way and so beautiful. Snorkel with a few sting rays, then some nurse sharks and over the reef area. I've snorkeled several times before but did not enjoy this one at all. May have just been time of year or weather conditions but the current was strong, water visibility not great and just not a lot to see. Nurse sharks were cool but current just too strong to enjoy. They take you to a little bar on a little island for food and/or drink and then back to port. No restrooms on boat. Squeezed a bunch of people on shoulder to shoulder. Don't have to get out and snorkel - can just stay in the boat. Got back just in time to hurry to boat. No shopping time. Not a lot of shops in port anyway but might have been nice to have a few minutes. I just came back from another trip there and did cave tubing and ziplining this time through a private company and had an absolute Blast!!

Hmm...I like the fact you got to sail a good bit. I’m sailing this Sunday 2/25/18 so I don’t know how the waters will be. I guess you can never tell. I don’t like being packed shoulder to shoulder. Right now though, it’s either that or not snorkel at all as all of the other tours don’t have enough signed up to take their boat out. I’ve posted here and my Carnival Facebook group and still can’t find one.

  5. Belize is arguably one of the best Dive stops in the world but the mass market snorkel trips are designed for optimum timing NOT best snorkeling --I agree with what was said before about Cozumel--not at all good for snorkel--great if you dive the wall but otherwise any of the other ports would be better

I’ve never snorkeled so if they’re on optimum time, I’m out of luck lol! I’m going to check out the other ports. Thank you!

  6. I was under the impression that Roatan is the best snorkeling on that itinerary. Cozumel is a great place to sit on a beach and go shopping. The best thing we did there was rent a Jeep at the port for $40. Then we drove to the other side of island away from the crowds. The beaches there are breathtaking and there is even a Mayan ruins site. Best day in Cozumel ever. However you can take a five minute cab from port to Paradise Beach. $ 5 cover and Beach is gorgeous. They have wonderful facilities and a beautiful pool. The port shopping is one of my favorite of all cruise ports.Good luck in your planning.

I’m glad you told me!! I was under the impression Cozumel had the best snorkeling. Forget that then lol!

  7. Does it leave at 9 am ships time or Island time? This may make a difference. They will usually accommodate ship arrival times and change their schedule if so.

It leaves at 8 am ship time. We get there at 8. He checked to see if the operator was planning on waiting for cruisers to come in and he was not.

  8. Just to let you know.... all the shallow reefs in Cozumel are actually near the cruise piers. It seems like they are ripping you off, by stopping so close to the ships, but that is only because there are not many reefs suitable for snorkeling in Cozumel. The "reefs" that are considered some of the best in the world are all deeper than you can snorkel (50-100' deep). The snorkel boats are limited to where they can go. If you find one that goes all the way down to Columbia Shallows reef, on the south end of island, then that one is great, but a catamaran doesn't go fast enough to go there and get back in a timely manner. It is over an hour each way so the snorkel boats don't usually go there, gas is expensive.

I would look at maybe shoreexcursioneer dot com. I think they book with a few different companies. Don't think any of them have food provided onboard. I've never seen that on any of the boats in Cozumel. I think some stop at a beach club for food.

Robin - Are Belize or Mahogany Bay better for snorkeling?

  9. We did one in Cozumel through shore excursioneer ("Best Cozumel Catamaran Sail and Snorkel). It made two snorkel stops that were ok, but not out on any of the reefs. The actual sailing part was wonderful and we sat out on the netting. I think it was around only 3+ hours total.

Thank you!! I’ll look them up!

  11. Hello everyone!

I’m sailing 2/25/18 on the Dream to Cozumel, Belize, and Mahogany Bay. I’m interested in getting on a catamaran to SAIL and snorkel. I’m looking to book outside of the cruise line as I’m not wanting to be with a crowd of people. Now here’s where I get picky. I would like the catamaran to be where I can sit out from under the top. Like in front on some netting or something like that. Also I want to actual sail a while. Not just a few feet from the cruise ship. I also want to do some snorkeling. A long tour if possible. 4.5-6 hours. I found a perfect one that sails, takes you to an island, anchors the catamaran, takes you by a little boat (don’t know what they’re called) to get to the island. Lunch is cooked onboard. Eat and then more sailing and perhaps more snorkeling. This tour however leaves at 9 and we don’t get there until 9 so we won’t make that one. I also found some others on Playa de Carmen or somewhere like that but you have to use the ferry to get to the tour and I fear making it back to the ship on time. There’s several tours that are perfect that I want to sign up for but there’s not enough people. Sooo do any of you know of any company that’s has/does this? Also, is it better to sign up and HOPE others do and risk getting your tour cancelled? Thank you!!

  12. I was just wondering when you’re going to be in Cozumel MD_Cruzer? I’m looking to book a catamaran too but not one with 50 people! All the ones I’m trying say they need 2 more people or 6 more or whatever and I don’t know how to go about this lol!

  13. Sailing on Carnival 2/28/19. I’m a big Coke drinker. Not much alcohol. I drink coke with breakfast, lunch, supper, during the day, etc. I will get an alcoholic drink here and there. I know you can bring 12 packs on board. I will be able to bring 2 12 packs with 2 in my party. It’s a 7 night cruise. I like to have a can when I wake up and a can before bed. That’s a case already. In my opinion, with the amount of soda I drink, and I’m all about convenience, and not having to lug around drinks, I’m assuming B.B. is worth it? More importantly my concern is that if I choose to opt in on this, I know sodas are practically treated like bar drinks - having to go to the bar to get them - blah blah. I mean if I opt into B.B. and want my coke, have I got to wait around 10 minutes for someone to bring it me from or wait around at a crowded bar just to get a coke? I mean how difficult is it to get one? If I’m ready to sit down to eat dinner and show my B.B. card, the coke may not arrive until halfway through dinner? What are y’all’s experiences with this package? Finally, will I be charged 15 - 18% tip EVERY time I get s coke that I’ve already paid through B.B.? I mean if that’s the case it might not be worth it after all. Thanks!!

  14. Are you actually on the roll call page or did you mean meet and mingle? If on the roll call page you will see pages just like this and you can submit replies. What ship are you on and what is the sailing date?

I’m sailing the Carnival Dream 2/25 and I found the ship and date. I clicked the button that says I’m sailing and it posted like and automatic into of me and my ship and sail date. That’s the extent of it. I am wanting to meet and mingle but I’m also wanting to post about an excursion im interests in doing that I might need a couple to join me???

  15. Thank you!! I’m looking to book an excursion but not through the cruise line. You’re exactly right about reviews too. I have been checking out TripAdvisor and there’s some that have some pretty nasty reviews! I’m not taking any chances with them! Here a funny for ya: I sent an email to one excursion (I don’t remember which one) and I got a return email saying, “We’re booked” I emailed back and said, “I didn’t even give you the dates yet!” Lololol! Never heard a word back lolol!

  16. Hello everyone!

It’s been 20 years since I’ve cruised so I’m super excited! I have a question that I don’t think there’s an answer to but decided I would try to ask you expert cruisers! I’m looking into some excursions, ones with not a big crowd. Problem is no one is signing up for them BUT me. Most need at least 4,6, or whatever. One I really want to go on needs 2 more. Do I just need to stand at the port holding a sign saying, “ 2 people needed to go on this excursion. It’s blah blah dollars and they’ll only be 4 of us!” Perhaps make friends on the ship and mention it then? Also confused as to should I reserve an excursion or wait til I get there?

    Thanks!!

Going to Cozumel, Belize, and Mahogany Bay

Also not looking to book excursion through cruise line if I can help it. Interested In catamaran (sailing particulary) and snorkeling. Snorkeling in deep water preferred. I’d love to just be able to dive off the boat and swim! Not have to wear a live vest for snorkeling would be ideal! I’m a great swimmer. Also - I know this is long lol but I have a private tour for $40/person (2 in my party) for Honduras (Mahogany Bay) that will take us anywhere all day and stay with us if we stop to shop, stop to eat, stop and enjoy a beach somewhere, animal refuge, etc. is this a good deal?

    Thanks everyone!
