  1. I am sailing on the Carnival Freedom departing Port Canaveral on December 19, 2022. According to the current Port Canaveral Cruise Scedule, the embarkation will take place at Cruise Terminal 6 in the "A" Terminals on December 19th. However, when the ship returns on December 23rd, we will disembark at Cruise Terminal 3 in the "B" Terminals on the opposite side of the port. Has anyone encountered this before? My main question is, if you are parking in the deck at CT6, does this make everyone responsible for finding their own way back to their vehicles after the cruise or will their be a shuttle available.

  2. I don't post much, but these posts about canceling a trip because of having to wear a mask tickle me. In May, I spent 11 days at Disney World and Universal before the mask mandate was dropped. We had to wear them in the hotels, outdoors in the park except for eating and drinking, and all on all attractions. In the end, it was one of the best vacations ever. I will be on a B2B cruise starting with the first Carnival Magic cruise from Port Canaveral on August 7. If I end up having to wear a mask for some reason, you won't hear me complain. I will be on a cruise. I think it is all in one's attitude and the realization that life is too short to fret over the small things we have no control over. Live life to the fullest even with the obstacles, and you might find you're stronger than you ever thought possible. Just my two cents, now i am going back to packing. I am ready to cruise. 😎

  3. Headed to KW & Havana Monday (5-21) on the Sun. Originally booked a sail-away inside cabin for $399 per person. I saw on Tuesday they had several family balcony staterooms left. On a whim, I submitted an upgrade bid of $150 per person for a balcony room which was shown as a having "fair" chance. I assumed it was a longshot, but I surprised to find that I was awarded the upgrade to one of the family balcony rooms this afternoon. With the increase in my insurance protection, the upgrade cost $374.

  4. No, it hasn't. Same pics as before.

Well, they have when I view the Norwegian Sun on the NCL site. When I go into Whats on Board section for the Sun and click on the dining, speciality dining or bars, and lounges, the photos have been updated for those I listed. In the Norwegian Sun Gallery, the photo of the casino has been updated. The chairs in the casino were red, now they are white which matches a photo I saw on Twitter taken during the return Panama Canal cruise after the refurb. Also, the photo of the balcony cabin shows the new blue color motif with new artwork, new bed covers and pillows.

  5. KOMO News has some great aerial footage of the Sun taken yesterday in Seattle. The footage is on their website and their social media page in the Live Video section. I would share the link, but it would just go ***poof***. She looks quite beautiful in the video. There was concern that the outside deck at the Observation Deck on Level 12 would be taken out during the transition to becoming the new Spinnaker Lounge. In the video, there are people walking on the deck, so it seems to have survived the refurb.

  6. On your vacation summary on the NCL website, scroll down to the section titled "What you need to know before you go." Once that opens up go down to the link for Internet Cafe and WiFi. There is a link under pricing for internet packages. It allows you to look up your reservation and purchase a plan. That is how I did mine for the cruise on the Sun in mid-May. You basically buy yourself a gift.

  7. I have asked questions of my staff friends on board, but so far they have not responded to specific questions. My guess would be that the Sports Bar will become The Place (new name for O'Sheehan's--about time).

According to NCL website the bar on the Bliss replacing O'Sheehan's is called "The Local" bar and grill.

  8. I just saw a CruiseCritic member called "oldpianos " posted a review today on the review page for the Sun. For me, it at least provides another glimpse on the part of the situation shown in the posted of the Sun Deck 12 work.

The ship itself is quite nice and beautiful, but as they are getting ready to go into dry dock, they were removing all the sun deck mats and repairing and replacing them with the rubberized coating like most ships have. Therefore, at any given time half or more of the sun decks were closed off. This made finding a place for a deck chair difficult as people were three deep
If most of the significant work is being done outdoors and mostly confined to the upper sun deck, I think people would be hard-pressed to be successful in attempting to get even a 50% or a full refund. I think the 25% offer made by NCL would be adequate. And before someone tries to imply that I too am an apologist for NCL, I have yet to sail on any NCL ship. My first will be on the Sun in late May. What I am is a seasoned traveler who understands things happen. My last cruise was on the Carnival Valor. During the duration of that seven-day cruise, we had to no A/C in our cabin. The cabin stewards, ship's engineering staff, and hotel staff did everything in their power to make us comfortable. I did not think for one instance that I should demand some compensation, especially asking for the daily service charges to be refunded. That hurts no one but the crew.
  9. The cruise is for 15 days and goes from Miami to Los Angeles via the Panama Canal with stops in Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Mexico.

I’ve uploaded 2 photos showing the muster stations closed as well as the doors to the muster stations. When I asked Guest Services what I should do if there was an emergency, I was told that they would “probably” open the deck that was closed. Someone else was told that the captain would allocate new muster locations and advise us (no doubt while he was trying to stop the boat from sinking) and someone else was told to all go to random muster stations on the side of the ship that was open. I don’t know what the point of the mandatory emergency drill was on day 1.

I believe that the proof of great customer service isn’t found when things go right, but found when things go wrong. In this case NCL has failed dismally and should be ashamed of themselves.

I can only comment on the two pictures posted. On previous cruises on both Carnival and Royal Caribbean, there has been an instance where the doors and walkways were closed with rope or tape similar to what is shown. This has always been a common sight when the crew is painting or cleaning the area where the lifeboats are located.
