  1. Hi! We've booked a HAL cruise on Niew Statendam for Febraury 2019.

I'm really interested in trying out Blends, their onboard "blend your own wine" experience, but I can't seem to find much info about it.

Anyone know how I can book this experience? Can I book in advance or do I need to wait until I'm onboard the ship?

Also, noticed that HAL was running a special on drinks packages- so I contact HAL or my TA (who I booked my cruise through) to inquire about it?

Also, I heard that HAL does a lot of cabin upgrades- assuming I wouldn't be eligible for those since I booked thru a TA?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. We're booked on the Niew Statendam for a Feb 2019 sailing, and have great connecting cabins (I think/hope!) 6130 & 6128 (V category). Did lots of research on her sister ship Koningsdam and these seemed really good choices.

We've just received a quote from a travel agent for Vista suites, coming in at just a few hundred more to upgrade.

What do you think? Is it worth it to upgrade? Our current cabins show super big balconies, so I guess my question is more about the interior of a verandah vs. A Vista Suite, plus the added perks.....

  3. So disappointed to hear no lido deck cabanas for the Niew Statendam, wish they wouldn't show on deck plans! Anyone habe recommendations for retreat cabanas? Trying to find a layout map so I know which one to request....we're booked on NS for early 2019....

  4. Ruth C I just love all your posts and wanted to tell you so!

We will be in Cabins 4135 and 4137 on the Dec. 30 cruise. They are adjoining and so are the balconies. My husband, my 93 year old mother and three or four of our five kids. I am so excited to finally cruise with a balcony!

(Thanks to the poster of room 4137 - it looks great!)

Hi! How did you like cabins 4135 and 4137? We are looking at these same cabins on an upcoming cruise- cabin 4135 in particular looks like it has a really large balcony!

  5. Hi Everyone,

Looking to book our first cruise on HAL Niew Statendam next February.

Getting hung up on picking a cabin! Would love a suite but they're a bit out of our price range right now, so looking to find a verandah that offers offers a larger balcony.....

Cabin 4135 looks like it has a larger balcony than others in the same category, and even though it says partially obstructed it doesn't look like the lifeboats would be in the way very much?

Anyway, understand that Statendam will have similar/ same deck plans as Koningsdam, so wondering if anyone has stayed in 4135 and can provide feedback on size of cabin, size of balcony and how obstructed the view really is?

    Thanks!!
