  1. I think people are confusing the medallion and the app and associating them both together when they are two seperate entities.

I am I agreement that the app is badly designed and even worse, disastrously implemented. It does work better on board but really should be rewritten. I would be ashamed and deservably sacked if I produced a product of this quality.

The medallion itself is a great device, does not need the app to operate and is far superior than a simple key card. Just think about the information it provides Princess and if the location information provided to them is used right, can provide amazing statistical information about popularity of events and people flow throughout the ship. That information alone is worth more than the cost of implementing it fleet wide. This should help in designing future ships as well as aiding decisions on changes what locations onboard should be kept or possibly removed. I am amazed that all other lines have not yet gone to use similar location tracking system, it's only a matter of time.

Do you have a picture of the wristband?  And how much was it?  Do they have a lot of large sizes in stock?  I read that some ships don't have very many left and they are too small for most except kids and small adults.

Here is a pic of the LARGE wristband, with ruler for size. 20230605_1633223.thumb.jpg.93380ffade944e9e5df6007ec9b125ba.jpg

Ignore the weight holding it down, it wouldn't lay flat.

  3. Is there a significant price difference in pre-booking a spa session as opposed to waiting and booking when onboard?

I am considering a treat during an upcoming european cruise but I am unsure and think I would prefer to wait till onboard to confirm it.

Also I have OBC, would I easily be able to use that for an advance booking via the website or does that make the decision for me to wait till onboard?

    Thanks.

  4. I had problems booking dining via the app saying it had to be fully paid for before booking reservations. I was well past that point! Then found a workaround...

I went to the Web based version of the app and all dining reservations could be made no problem. They then appeared in the app and after that point I could make changes without a problem.

  5. I wouldn't describe the average Princess cruiser as falling into the "booze cruiser" demographic.

I got the impression many of last year's equivalent cruise was full of passengers wanting a short break while avoiding the chaos at airports still recovering from covid restrictions. Similarly this one gives the opportunity of a break avoiding airport strike chaos.

  6. We were on the Solstice a few weeks ago.

We arrived at the terminal about 10:30 and it looked like chaos as the RCL was boarding the same time BUT checkin was a breeze and took minutes and we boarded after just a short wait. On by 11:15.

We were Aqua class and enjoyed eating in Blu so I didn't take much notice of the speciality restaurants so can't comment on them.

Also our flights were international so we couldn't use the luggage service.

Best excursion by far was :

TA01 - Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Explorer. You leave the Solstice onto a smaller boat on entering the Fjord and get much closer to the Glacier and then spend more time there. You catch up with the Solstice back at Juneau.

  7. The layout of Schipol Airport means you have to also take into account it can take 15-20 mins to get to some departure gates.

The plane may also board earlier than you think. The airport states boarding can be up to 60 mins before take off time, as depending on the runway you are taking off from, the plane taxi time can be over 30mins due to the distance to the runway.

Recommendation for long distance flights is aim to arrive 3 hours before the flight.

  8. We are on an Celebrity Alaska cruise in June. I have been told by my partner that the thing she most wants to see are some Eagles in the wild.

The cruise includes Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagaway.

I have seen that there is a lighthouse tour that mentions seeing them but due to some allergy issues we are not interested in a excursion that includes a meal stop.

Can anyone recommend a different excursion or are there good opportunities when in the various locations we visit.
