  1. I was just on the Rhapsody doing a Greek Islands sailing last month and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. My past 5 cruises have all been much larger ships (Harmony, Oasis, Breakaway, etc.) and I was initially worried about spending 8 days on one of the older/smaller ships in the fleet, but I ended up loving it. Great ship, great crew; nice change of pace from the Oasis class. As previously noted, it's perfect for a port-intensive itinerary. Not sure I would want to spend more than a handful of sea days on board but I wouldn't worry about it at all for the Med cruise.

  2. I have been researching but coming up short on finding a guide in advance for an Acropolis tour for a few hours. I have read guides are available at the entrance, but was wondering if anyone has used or knew of a guide that could be booked in advance? We want to DIY Athens rather than take an excursion, but would love to have a guide for the Acropolis if possible.

All of the semi-private or group tours seem to waste a good portion of our day in Athens (i.e. we arrive at 6am, and most tours don't begin until 8:30 or later from the port, and end by 2:30 when we're in port until 5), so I would like to try and see as much as I can, but still have a guide. Most guides/private tours seem to just be a vehicle, and a guide at the sites is extra (and a lot more $$). If anyone knows of a company or individual who does a few hours guided in Athens (Acropolis + maybe some nearby stuff), that would be very helpful. Thanks!

  3. That would be the wise choice. We assume you are aware it is a bit of a hike and you will have to haul your luggage over the pedestrian bridge to get to the station.

Indeed. We're two young, fit-enough guys. Shouldn't be an issue, but we're aware nonetheless!

  4. Thanks for the helpful feedback!

Are you asking because you are considering purchasing tickets in advance? There's some risk to that since a discounted ticket is virtually useless if you miss the train.

Exactly this. We will use the people mover and walk. I guess our best option is the 9:50am departure so there isn't any stress or rush.

  5. We are scheduled to arrive into Venice at 6:45am (Rhapsody/July 22 return). Any chance I would make an 8:42 train at Venezia S. Lucia, or is that cutting it too close? Better off with the 9:50am?

    Thanks for the advice!

  6. Just got this message from my travel agent regarding a July 14, 2017 Greek cruise on the Rhapsody:

"Due to the current unpredictability of Turkey, and taking our guests and crew members safety and well-being into account, Royal Caribbean has decided to remove Ephesus (Kusadasi) from all cruise itineraries for the remainder of the 2017 Mediterranean season. Royal Caribbean has been working to find an alternate port and have been able to secure a call to Chania (Crete), Greece."
