  1. Thanks for the update on the Maui Plantation as it has certainly changed from when we were there last. We will make a visit and since we'll be there for 2 weeks plus beginning on June 15th. I'll update my post after our visit! Thanks Triptkr!

The Plantation is great!  Totally recommend it!  It has even improved over the years with the gift shop and restaurant.  My opinion is to go there on your own--as it will allow more freedom.

  3. My daughter and family live on Maui and after the tram tour, my Granddaughter, who was 5 at the time said at the end: Is this all there is? We laughed when she made the statement, which says a lot. According to what I've read, there is more there now, with the duck/fish pond, tropical flower gardens, and the Mill House Restaurant which I understand it is excellent! All the changes could most probably change our perception of the time we spent at the Plantation. We'll be visiting our family again in June so we may go back and check out the changes. As for the tour; I'm quite sure we'll pass on that.

Enjoy your time in Maui, it's a beautiful island!

We are going to use Valley Isle Excursions, they are highly recommended on the Trip Advisor forum.

My Daughter and family live on Maui and have been multiple times. We have driven ourselves twice and the last time a car trying to pass us on a one way bridge almost drove us into the ocean. My husband said NEVER AGAIN would he drive. Last time we used Valley Isle Excursion and to say we were very impressed is an understatement! Their guides are local and our guide was amazing. It is a long day, however because they drive all the way past Hana and seeing the back side was amazing. To those who enjoy the freedom of going on your own, have a great time. I will say, with a comfortable van with 8 to 10 passengers, enjoying the beauty of this drive for driver and passengers...worked great for us!
