  1. Thanks for your thoughts guys. We had planned to convert the bulk of our funds before we left, but so much of what I read online elsewhere made me feel like this was an old fashioned way of doing things. Everything seems to say-- just use the ATM. We haven't traveled over seas in many years and I was unsure how much things had changed.

  2. We are a family of 5-- elementary aged kids and parents. Do I need to arrange transport ahead or can we get a taxi at the airport to the cruise terminal? One suitcase per person, plus day bags (personal item sized) for each person.

If I need a prearranged transfer, any suggestions? or estimates on what I should pay? Or would it be cheaper to grab two taxis?

    thanks.

  3. Got any advice for families with gradeschool aged kids?

We will be there mid- October, so I'm guessing it will be pleasant to be outside but too cool to sunbathe or swim? It's a Sunday so the Basicilla is closed.

I was thinking we may do one of the walks on the seemallorca website? I would love to pick up some picnic supplies and find a nice spot to hang out for a bit. But a nice lunch would be great too.

Do you think the caves are a good fit for kids?

  4. So we just booked a pretty last minutes cruise on the Dream. This time the check in procedure has you choose (but being last minute I was assigned) a time to board the ship. I don't remeber this being the case in 2010.

Is this a guideline? Or am I really stuck boarding at the last possible second?

  5. Just throwing something else out there. We are primarily wine drinkers.

We just got back from the Eclipse, where they have the automatic wine dispenser machines open 24 hours (but staffed less).

We bought, a 3 bottle wine package for dinner at $99, and spent about $150 (but got like $175 or so) in prepaid credits for the machines. We also brought on our bottles of wine for the room.

We were really happy with the variety and quality of wine available in CellarMasters. There are 3 pour sizes (and prices) per bottle, so it was nice to be able to try something without a full commitment. We found a variety of price ranges--and the wines changed throughout the week.

We still bought a few beers at the pool etc but did much better than having bought a package. It just all depends on how/ what you drink.
