  1. Choose Bliss as you'd love being on the new ship.

Epic gets as many mixed reviews as any other ship. I enjoyed my cruise on her but looking forward to experiencing Bliss in November.

  2. I wonder how they differentiate drinks.

Ie Mrs G orders a Coke, I order a Diet Coke, normally that use different straws, or two in one one in the other.

    Flags. Umbrellas. Lollipops

Or they could just tell you which one's the diet.

  3. You'll get a lot of history in both places. The British Isles (Not English isle [emoji6]) would normally be much cooler.

Personally for history and museums I'd choose the UK and if you've never been I'd definitely recommend spending time in London either before or after a cruise. You'll need time just to scratch the surface of all that magnificent city offers.

  4. Capacity is calculated at 2 people per cabin. Obviously some cabins have more than that, so ships sail at over the calculated capacity.
That would be full ship capacity. Max capacity world be every berth filled. When talking about capacity it should be qualified as it's a pretty fluid number.

  5. Wife and I are also first timers with NCL.

I saw this on the NCL page for our October trip, NYC-NOLA

    Please note:

-Disembarkation usually begins 2 hours after docking.

-Due to security reasons, all guests must be on board 2 hours before sailing.

I understand the two hours after docking but having to be on board two hours before sailing?? Is this for every port stop? Is this standard for NCL?

    Thanks.

Not every stop, just embarkation day

  6. Let me add this: don't take the concept of Freestyle anything goes too seriously in either direction. You can wear shorts and a Tshirt to the dining room but you will feel horrifically awkward and only do it one time. Women dress at night- by which I mean a light sundress and wedges or capris and sandals and a nicer shirt. No one eating anywhere besides the buffet will be in super casual clothes. Men will want long pants and a collared short of some sort. Other end- very few ladies had on stilettos and the only time men had a jacket on was the first night for pictures. You would look absurd in formal or cocktail attire on any night.
A bit wide of the mark there.

You'll see men in shorts and tees every night and i don't think my wife owns a pair of capris. She seems to get by just fine in shorts as well.

Dress how you like, long trousers in a couple of places, and feel comfortable. Nobody will judge, and who cares if they do!

  7. Straws are easily cleaned by soaking in water... people with feed tubes clean their tube extensions the same way and keep the extension for a week.. if it’s good enough for healthcare...

  8. So,,, do you clean yourself the same way? Jump in the shower, run some water over yourself, and say “I’m clean”.

No way to clean the inside of a straw.

Why the need to be so sarcastic?

Why do you care how i clean a straw anyway. It's not exactly rocket science. Mind you, if you think that it's impossible then i would have to question your own cleaning routine.

  9. I am in the UK and have the so called 'All Inclusive ' deal but like others am somewhat confused. Not being a great coffee drinker I wonder what a 'speciality coffee ' is (coffee with a alcohol shot?) . But what if I just want an Americano?

The atrium coffee shop also has pastries etc - are they free?

Also I wonder what the fuss on

Lavazza is - seems a standard brand here.

I'm taking that the speciality coffees will be espresso based such as cappuccino, latte etc. An Americano is espresso based so may be a speciality coffee.

And you're right the coffee is Lavazza and it's pretty ordinary. I think Bliss may be Starbucks which is also likely to be pretty ordinary. That's both compared to my local artisan coffee roaster.

  10. So true. I am a clinical microbiologist and bacteria doesn't scare me. However, these "reusable" straws are a haven for mold because it is very hard to dry them after you have done your best washing them. No, thank you.
There are probably fewer bacteria on my stainless steel straws after they've been washed and dried than there are on my, or your, toothbrush!

  11. Panic over. I've test driven stainless steel straws with homemade bahama mamas and they work fine. Just in case they are confiscated on boarding i also test drove my mouth. It also worked fine. I guess I'm good to go [emoji106]

  12. I wish this would become the norm! recyclable and no plastic parts.

I wish getting it out of the tap would become the norm. Then no trees or plastics need to die in the first place!

  13. so you are going to take them to court based on he said, she said. Unless it is pretty much in writing that would be a really stupid idea. Plans for one itinerary over another do change from time to time. The OP didn't tell us how long ago the certificates were purchased.

I now, have read most of the OPs ranting and see the certificates were purchased more than 30 days ago. That still doesn't mean there is any grounds for a law suit. The op is upset, I guess I understand but there is never anything that keeps a cruise line from changing an itinerary. Just like airlines change theirs. The more the OP tries to defend his/her rant, the more people are wondering what the problem is.

No i wouldn't as i wouldn't have made the same mistake

Maybe i should've used an eye raising emoji but my response was meant to be sarcastic [emoji849].... The OP can do whatever she wants

  14. I was on the Dawn last week. I had brought some reusable straws for my frozen drinks but didn't actually use them. Since the straws have been eliminated, they now blend the frozen drinks until they are watery so straws aren't necessary. The drinks don't taste as good this way but they are drinkable.
    That's not blending, that's melting!

  15. Some not quite accurate information on GDPR in this thread.

It applies, as well as to data controllers inn the EU, to data controllers outside the EU who offer goods and services to individuals in the EU. Therefore NCL must abide by GDPR when providing their services in the EU.

NCL can only process your data for a lawful purpose. They can only keep it for as long as is necessary.

You have a right to know what data of yours they hold and the purpose of holding it and you have a qualified right to instruct the erasure of your data.

There are loads of other considerations. Best thing for you is to ask NCL what data of yours they have and the purpose of the processing. Once you know that you can decide what to do next, if anything.

If you're in the UK go to the Information Commissioner's website for all you need to know.
