  1. We used the Hub App on the Sunrise's 1st cruise out of Norfolk. You requested a table and how many people were joining you and with in ten minutes you got a notification that your table was ready.  Really easy to use.  I saw a bunch of guests going to the desk on Deck 5 to get a table then they had to go back to Deck 3 to the MDR to get seated.  We had no problems using the App.

  2. We caught the ferry over to Placencia and spent the morning there.  We rented a golf cart and drove around the area.  Take the early ferry if you can and they will tell you what time to return to Harvest Caye.  It was about a 20 min ferry ride there.  We still had plenty of time to enjoy the pool at Harvest Caye as well.  Hope this helps.

  3. Posting a question for the DW... Does Carnival give you plastic or paper straws for the cocktail drinks?  Also we have the Cheers package and she wants to know what type of straws they use for the milkshakes?  Thanks for the info.   We are sailing in 16 days on the Sunrise!!!

  4. Welcome to the wonderful world of cruising ....  I would recommend Victor Bodden Tours in Roatan.  They were fantastic.  We did the Zip and Dip and even got to hold a sloth at their compound.  The Zip lining is for all ages..check them out at boddentours.com.  They took us to the west bay beach after zip lining.

In Cozumel, we did the Nachi Cocom Beach Club which is just a little down the beach from Mr.Sancho's. www.cozumelnachicocom.com.

Never been to Belize so I can't comment there.  Hope this helps

  5. We are on the inaugural cruise on the Sunrise in April 2019.  We have been on RCL and Norweigen and this is my wife's 1st time on Carnival, my 3rd with them.  We love the idea that they are putting over $200 million in renovation.  Hope this helps you make a great choice.

  6. Great Review!!! We were at West Bay Beach this past April when we sailed on the Getaway. We met you two years ago when we were on the Escape and you lead the Meet and Greet. We have been reading all your reviews and I agree that the cruise lines need to hire you as a writer and travel advisor. We are doing our 1st Carnival cruise next April aboard the newly renovated Triumph, which will be known as the Sunrise. Come on along with us on that one if you can find the time.

  8. Hi All! I'm sailing on the NCL Getaway for the western Caribbean trip on 4/22/18 returning on 4/29/18. This is a company sponsored trip and I just realized they have me on a noon flight out of Miami on the last day. So the ship docks at 8am and things I'm reading seem to indicate that I'm cutting it kind of close.

What are your thoughts? I did call NCL and all they could tell me was that I as soon as I get on the ship I should register for 'easy walkoff'' (requires you to handle all your luggage yourself).

Has anyone been in this situation before? Should I take a chance or move my flight. Note that I am a minimalist traveler so will be able to carry all my luggage.

Appreciate any insight and thanks in advance.

    Joe

We are on this cruise as well!! Only 12 days to go. Did you sign up for the meet and mingle or the pub crawl?

  9. We are sailing on the Getaway in 3 weeks and my DW was asking about the laundry service on the ship. What day is there special and how much does it cost to have your laundry done. Any information would be helpful in knowing how much to pack.

  10. I hope you enjoy Harvest Caye. We have been there a couple of times now and loved it. On our last cruise we finally got to go to Great Stirrup Caye which I had been looking forward to. Comparing the two, we enjoyed HC more but we could see why some love GSC.

We are planning to take the ferry over to Placentia for a few hours while we are there.

  11. When you get off the ship in Harvest Caye, walk (or take the tram) down the long pier... When you get to the island, The ferry terminal is around to the left a few couple of hundred feet. Purchase your round trip ferry ticket (it was $20 last time, but I have heard that it's $25 now) they will give you a wristband with your return ferry time. The trip to Placencia takes about 15 minutes. They drop you off at the far South part of the area, and there is a sidewalk that goes North closest to the beach. If you follow the path, you will come to some small beach bar/restaurants. There is also a road that goes the same direction, with shops and roadside stands, as well as restaurants. You can't really get lost there, because these are the only real modes of travel. (the road and the sidewalk) There are several cross paths that go from East to West intersecting the Road to the sidewalk. Edit to add: Just google a map of Placencia to get an idea of the beaches and restaurants. I made myself a self drawn paper map to remind me of points of interest while I was there. The people of Belize are so nice and helpful if you need directions as well...

Thanks for the advice!! We were on the Escape with you in May 2016 as you were the Meet and Mingle Leader. That was a great cruise. We will be on the Getaway April 22nd and was looking to do something other than a beach day.. This sounds like fun.
