  1. Sorry if this is an old bump of a threat elsewhere.

I have enjoyed this thread. I bought an iPod for my cruise (it happened to be a good excuse) and I've had fun coming up with my own mix. I'm going so far to make a 2-3 hour playlist for each day of my cruise:

Day 1 - (Leaving the Pier) Sail Away by Styx. Theme from the Love Boat

Day 2 - (Sea Day) Changes in Lattitude, Boat Drinks, Margaritaville

Day 3 - (Cozumel) Mexico by James Taylor, Blame it on Mexico by George Strait.

Day 4 - (Costa Maya) No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem, Soak up The Sun

Day 5 - (Sea Day) Beyond The Sea, Walking on Sunshine

Day 6 - (Galveston home) Hello Texas by Jimmy Buffett

One song I think is great is Una Mas Cervesa....my playlist says the Texas Tornados sing it...but I don't think that's right (Tommy Alverson?).

Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffet, and James Taylor are heavy on the playlist....but I'm searching out little gems.

  2. No flaming Nan. I completely understand. Customer service is the name of the game. However, no cruise is perfect. You have to have the ability to let some of it roll off your back.

My thing is the way he went about it. His video is one big overblown "His-side-of-the-story" for all the world to see. I had a good friend take a cruise several years ago out of Galveston and the AC went out. The news had it front and center as "The Cruise From Hell!" He said, they slept on the decks, a lot of free stuff and discounts, and he had the time of his life! There were others, however, who said they would never leave land again. He got 1/2 off his next cruise (he wasn't expecting anything).

My "moral to the story" is to make your own vacation and don't raise your expectations to set yourself up for disappointment. He didn't mention anything about the food, quality of entertainment, etc. He complained about the ports (which were battered days earlier by a hurricane) and the quality of the ship itself (did anybody give him this website for the future?).

Having to watch A Perfect Storm on a boat does not equal a free vacation.

(However, having to listen to Celine Dion sing over and over might be the equivalent of cruel and unusual punishment in prison)

  3. I thought the video was halarious.

    Letsee:

    Ports of call changed

Progresso was a port of call

    Ghetto level room

    Laundry room smell

    TV didn't work for excursions

    Excursion problem with the lines

    Restaurants closed while in port

    Cozumel lacked excursions

Barf bags and Titanic music playing

Perfect Storm on the movie channel

    Dirty lampshades

    CD player skipped

    Basketball net torn

Six and a half hours to get off

Set aside the production values of his video and my response is "whaa-whaa-whaa". He's begging for a Hawaii vacation after posting this video? Seems to me, 75% of his gripes are nit-pickey or could have been solved with a simple request to a cabin steward or management.

The only thing I think he has a major gripe about is the disembark. The rest should be "make the best of it". Find your own fun. I found this very funny until the end when he basically told Carnival to send him to Hawaii or else. I think the most he would have gotten if he handled it correctly would be credit toward another cruise.

It's like having a flat tire on your Ford Escort and asking for an Porche.
