I am planning a cruise in November for 14 nights in the Far East followed by 5 weeks holiday in Australia I called one T/Insurance company and they quoted me £464 I am 73 and have a couple of medical problems that I need to disclose No heart or stroke or raised B/P cholestrol etc I am wondeing if anyone can suggest any insurance company that may be able to quote me a lower premium Thank you any suggestions would be appreciated

I enjoyed your review so much and all the more so because of the light banter. It was interesting and like others I look forward of more to come.

My heart is with QM2 but that is because I found it romantic and harking back to a bye gone age. The glamour how I would have loved to live in those times!!!! That is the dreamer in me.

This will be my 4th time on the QM I loved the QE as well spent 19 nights Dubai to Southampton the final leg of the world cruise March 2011. Her first in case I have given the wrong year.

Thanks to everyone on the advice re soft drink passage. While Rebecca is 15 she is not the sort who is trying to be a woman before her time. No make up outlandish dress etc. Alcohol etc. She is a very clever girl with a fantastic personality very very funny She makes us all laugh although with people whom she knows she is actually very shy! My daughter says she is as mad as a box of FROGS but in a lovely way She will love the library on the QM2

She has not said to friends at school on her Parents decision and her own as the Family are going in a safari leaving on 21st August. This is just after Dan gets his exam results. Her Parents and she realise that many children won't even have 1 holiday let alone 2. BUT Becky has always found it hard to keep a secret!!!! So how well she will manage this is in the lap of the Gods. Always lets the cat out the bag since she was a little girl and she has not improved with age!! Keep writing as I am loving it!!!

Thank you I have enjoyed your review. I have booked a T/A leaving Uk 20th July - Aug 3rd. It is just a round trip I have done in the past and Yes I love the QM2 and the Ship is the destination! I am travelling with my young Granddaughter Rebecca who is 15 almost 16 in fact on the Getaway fare

There has been a lot said about that fare and I have been told that 1st Sept things will change and the fare will be open to those of us who travel solo

Perhaps you can answer a question for me. I note that they have a soft drinks package which is a reasonable price $6.50 per day.

This will be my 4th trip on the QM and I did 19 nights on the QE I think 18months ago

If I recall correctly fruit juice was available in the buffet, She does not drink fizzy drinks Cola Sprite etc In which case if she wants juice we could just buy it as we go along. My daughter states I don't want her drinking Fanta for 14 nts.

I wish you well for your next trip on the QE I did enjoy it but she is a different animal.

Thank you for the update on the Solstice. I don't recognise any of the names but then I don't know all of the names Damien O'Conner was on Solatice twice but not last year he had gone to the Eclipse I understand. See he is going to the Reflection

I am looking forward to this cruise. I did Australia and NZ on the Millie when she was out there. I then stayed on for a further 5 weeks in Perth WA where my Brother lives. This time I am taking my SIL with me she will fly from Perth to Singapore and then we will fly from Sydney on the 9th Dec to Perth where I will stay until 15th January. This will be the 3rd Christmas I have spent down under in 5 years. Missing the UK winter is pretty good given that we have had some terrible ones in those years.

I am on the Solstice 23rd Nov/Dec 9th Singapore to Sydney Other than the CC Hostess no mention of any other Crew who may be on board. Been on Solstice last 3 years and some changes last year sp wondering who is going to be where.

Just found my stateroom and other than wind at times all looks good. Seems to have a larger balcony

Booked 1206 and 1208 both C1 rooms for the 24th August. Offer for over 55's and seems like a real bargain. Now realise that soot may be a problem and also being overlooked. Any views on this. Please excuse me writing this as a question'

Thank you so much for the Info on the Hotel Director. Also your continuing review and the photo's are just amazing. I am ashamed to say I take very few photo's these days other than Grandchildren!! or on other special occasions. I did a 20 night Dubai to Southampton on the Queen Elizabeth in April and I took few photo's. The older I get the more difficult it has been to control all those photo's taken over so many years.

My Son is great however and he keeps me up to date with all that is happening.

Glad that you had a good journey back home and that whilst you will be busy over the next week or so know that you will look back on this Cruise not just with your memories but also the memories you have created for those of us on this board. Once again thank you!

Absolutely fantastic photo's and they bring back so many memories of the 2 cruises I have taken on the Solstice.

Have just booked for the 24th August maybe not the best of rooms given what can be said about soot on aft balconies. It was a fantastic deal on a C1 room on the Sky Deck 1206 abd 1208 2 rooms for single occupancy. offer for the over 55's!

Just wondering who the current Hotel Director is on Solstice. Damien O'Connor was both May 2010 and October 2009. He I understand has moved to the Eclipse. I would be delighted if you could give me this info.

Yes that Brunch day is the best. Nobody wants midnight buffet's any longer. Just maybe a tiny little snippet of something.

Great review and it brought back so many fond memories of my BTB May 23rd - June 6th. I just love the Solstice class ships and yes we too were on the Senior Officers table with the HD Damien O'Connor. (Last year we were with the Chief Engineer.) We had a fun evening.

I have been looking at the brochures again BUT I am going to Australia for 8 weeks in November until January. I think that is going to take the place of my winter cruise.

How was your cruise?? Off subject I know but glad to know that disembarkation was easy for you.

I am going on to Perth on the final day and the flight is booked for 12.10pm so should make it unless for some reason there is a delay getting into port.

How was the weather?? I have read a lot of posts about rough seas and a lot of rain. I was surprised by this. I had an email from Brooks Aeron the Pianist and I believe he was on board. He told me he hopes that I will have better weather. Going late November.

Email me sometime with your views on the trip. Regards to you both. I had a great cruise on QM2 and nothing else booked until November.

I have just asked my travel to hold a booking for me on Century. She has emailed me to say she is holding 9145 but it has a different layout to the ones I am used to. Advice please has anyone been in one these and are they OK?

I was told some years ago to avoid blank spaces as these are services areas and can be noisy but don't know about the one you are talking about on Milly.
