  1. Hi there!

We are currently onboard the Emerald and we brought a firestick to watch live sports today and tomorrow (we’re big football fans).  Has anyone successfully connected a firestick to the TV in their stateroom?

    Thank you!

  2. Hi there,

I apologize in advance if these questions have been asked - I've tried searching and found answers that led me to more questions.

We are booked in a full suite for an upcoming New England/Canada cruise and I have a couple of questions about how some of the suite benefits work.

    1) Specialty Dining on embarkation night:  Can we make reservations ahead of time or do we have to wait until we're on the ship?  Or do we even need reservations at all for this night?

    2) Reserve Dining in MDR:  We are sailing on the Emerald - will something onboard tell us where we need to go (is there a specific dining room we go to)?  Along with this - do we have the same staff from night to night with reserve dining?

    3) Mini bar - I'm not sure if this is specific to suites, but I've read about folks changing out the mini bar.  We're not big drinkers so I think we would benefit from easy access to bottled water and maybe a few sodas.  Is this a normal ask of your steward?  Do we then pay for what we use from the mini bar?  We have the plus plan so we can also go get drinks elsewhere on the ship.

I think that's all for now - thank you in advance!  We're new to this suite sailing but very much looking forward to it.  If you have any other tips, I would welcome them.

    Thanks!

  3. Another excursion dilemma...

We are sailing on the Grand Princess in early September and, while in Juneau, are currently booked on Princess's "Mendenhall Glacier and Whale Quest". At the same time, I have read raving reviews on Harv and Marv. So, now I'm debating whether to see if Harv and Marv have any available space during our cruise or if we should just stick with our current plan.

Does anyone have a strong opinions on either option?

  4. HA! ...and I don't mind spending money eating and drinking :). As long as we can play some cards.

I'm traveling with my parents (I'm 34 - they are in their late 50s). They can walk a decent amount but my dad doesn't overly enjoy it (he'd like to pay more for comfort - and his time is worth something). Definitely more city folks, but we enjoy a good view (just don't sign us up for a hike).

Thanks for the ideas - although strangers may not know us, it's nice to here different perspectives!

  5. We are interested in this information, as well...except we will not have our luggage. We leave early the next morning.

Is the hop on/hop off a good idea for the day? or are there two or three must see sites?

Also - since we will only be in Vancouver for one day we are debating whether or not we need any CAD or do most merchants in Vancouver accept USD?

    Thanks!

  6. hello, there!

Currently, we are booked for the White Pass Rail (morning ride) and the Yukon Jeep Adventure for the afternoon during out visit in Skagway (there is about an hour and a half in between the two).

    My questions:

    1) Does anyone have recent feedback on the Yukon Jeep tour (offered through Princess)? I've read reviews from 2012/13 but can't find any more recent ones.

    2) Is this too much overlap? Will we see similar things on both? Or is the Jeep ride a completely different experience?

    3) If we decide to cancel the Jeep tour, any other recommendations for activities in skagway?

    Thanks in advance!

  7. We head out on our Alaskan adventure later this month and I'm looking for some advice on waterproof day bags. Our cruise departs in early September so I'm preparing for some rain and the last of my preparations is trying to figure out how to carry my camera on our excursions and protect it (as much as possible) from the water.

I've researched a few bags and found the pacsafe (Camsafe V9) to be perfect but a little pricey. Just wondering if there are any other suggestions or bags I should look into.

    Thanks in advance!

  8. One of our port days is at Villefranche. I have found that there is a lot available at this port - Eze, Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, etc. - but one of the things my parents have asked about is entering the Casino de Monte Carlo. Has anyone ever done this? or done the tour (I've read a little about it)?

Is it worth it? Is the dress code strict on the tour? how long does it take? any other helpful hints?

    thanks in advance!

  9. We are debating whether to do the HOHO bus tour in Barcelona or pay for a private tour for just our group to go directly to the sights we want to see.

Any recommendations of one over the other? Things to consider?

    Thanks in advance!

  10. ha - a longtime lurker :). I signed in during our last cruise, but we haven't cruised since so i've been on hiatus.

I checked the roll calls and there isn't one for my sailing yet. I noticed there were once the weeks before and after - but not for August 14th. Who starts them (this may be a silly question, so my apologies)?

  11. Looking for some advice - and I have to apologize in advance. I have searched and read LOTS of posts, but I haven't had as much luck as I would have liked. My parents (age 57 & 58) and myself (age 32) are taken a W. Med Cruise with Royal Caribbean in August (embark and debark in Rome). Our ports include the following: Naples, Barcelona, Marseilles, Nice, and La Spezia.

So, (1) this is our first time sailing with Royal Caribbean and (2) first time on a European cruise. I know we are in Europe during vacation season so I'm anticipating things to be busy.

What I need help with: recommendations for tours at any of our ports. I've read a lot about Rome in Limo and I'm sure there are others - that's my problem, I feel like there are SO many out there and I want to make sure I've looked into our options.

And secondly, any advice for Royal Caribbean (we have a junior suite)? We've cruised before (mostly Carnival) so I'm expecting things to be similar. We will be cruising on the Liberty of the Seas.

Thanks so much in advance! I'm sure this information is out there somewhere, but I'm just not having the luck I hoped for.
