  1. We are going to be in Copenhagen from Sept 5-7,2018 and boarding the Regal on the 8th. We are looking for a mid price hotel, around $300 a night, good location, and safe. Any ideas? We are looking online but do not know where the ship will be when we board so it is difficult to know what area is best. We plan to purchase the Copenhagen Card for the 2 days we are there so we will be busy just looking around for the 2 full days we will be there. Any help will be appreciated.

We always stay in Nyhavn...right on the water at Hotel Bethel. It is clean, good breakfast, easy to walk to many sights, and very reasonably priced. You can check it out at www.hotel-bethel.dk

  2. I visited Tropicante in June 2014 and I can't seem to find the website, again. Could you send me the website or Steve's email address? I loved it there and Steve was so nice...don't want to miss it in December. Thank you. Marie

I have a date with Tropicante in Jan. and can't wait! Those pictures are wonderful. So generous of you to post and for Steve to answer. He seems to have a gift for not getting defensive and just telling it like it is.
  3. Hi Jeno

I booked my private car in April and my quote was 67 pounds plus 7 for parking. I converted it to $$$ and at that time it came to $110 (67 BP). Today I checked the rates and 67 BP is now equal to $105! Hunter's Lodge is only 5 minutes from the cruise terminal. Beaulieu looks pretty far from my destination (http://www.maplandia.com/united-kingdom/england/south-east/hampshire-county/southampton/). I know that Smith's car service is excellent and reasonable...I'm sure you already checked other private car companies. Have a wonderful trip.

  4. We are going on a cruise from Southampton in September on Princess. After taking the princess transfer from our London (overnight) hotel, once, we decided that it was worth taking a private car from the airport to Southampton and stay overnight there rather than in London. I found a very reasonable small hotel...Hunter's lodge, a few miles from the cruise terminal. The lodge looks lovely and has great reviews. I also booked a private car for two people from the airport to the hotel in Southampton for $110 from smithsforairports.com. Princess charges $59 pp for the long bus ride from Victoria station to the cruise port and if you stay in London, overnight, on your own, you have to get to Victoria station. Yes, we will have to take a taxi to the cruise port but it is only a few miles away...getting picked up at the airport and driven in a little over an hour in a car is so much better. That bus transfer takes forever and stops at some rest stop for 1/2 hour...what a waste of time! Good luck with your plans.

  5. Don,

You can always stay at the Hilton right at the airport. They have a free shuttle into Rome and back and you will be right there for your early flight the next morning. I've done it many times.

Sounds like your cruise ends in Rome...right? My next cruise begins in Rome and we hired a limo to take us to the port. Maybe you can find other people going to the airport and you can tag along with them but instead of going on a plane, you go to the airport hotel. You could also take the ship's transfers to the airport.

    Hope this helps.

  6. Thanks for this thread...it sure can save tons of time looking for information on Italy.

I need help finding a hotel room for three people close to the port in civitavecchia for one night. I only know of the Hilton Airport Hotel with a free shuttle to Rome (in case you want to sight-see). We plan to stay one night and board our ship (the Grand) on September 1. We will arrange limo transfer to the ship (thanks for all the tips on that). The Hilton is pricey and it doesn't seem to have rooms with two double beds...only Kings and Twins.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Marie
