  1. We will be in Stockholm from the time our plane lands on July 29 until our ship [Eurodam] leaves on July 31. We will be at the Stockholm Hilton Slussen.

Is there any way that we could get an all-day tour that would pick us up at the Hilton on July 30th? We'd like to see as much as possible while we are in Stockholm. We figure that we can walk around the area near the hotel on our own as soon as we arrive.

    Any advice is appreciated. :)

  2. We walked from the pier to his office, maybe a couple of blocks. We paid him with US dollars. There was not much walking on the tour; afterwards, we walked all over the town, which is very attractive. You can't go wrong with Hans & his tour! :)

    Hope this helps.

  3. If you tour Bonaire with Hans, as we did, you can book ahead of time and be assured of a great island tour! :) We recommend him highly. Last December he took DH & me and a couple we met onboard all over Bonaire, north and south, and to places other tour guides don't go--he has 4-wheel drive. It was an unforgettable day, one of the highlights of our 15-day cruise. You can contact him at hansoutdoor@hotmail.com. He offers a number of different excursions; you'll be sure to find one you like. He replies swiftly to emails, too.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I don't remember . . . it was such a lovely day. We didn't find Bonaire to be hot & humid in late December. Maybe you could shoot him an email. His tour is wonderful! You're sure to enjoy it. :)

    Have a great cruise!

  5. Grammar Goddess, what kind of vehicle does he use? We will be there in 2.5 weeks and haven't decided what to do on the island.

    thanx

    Hi Brenda,

If you leave it up to Hans, he will take you on a wonderful tour of Bonaire. He has a 4-wheel drive pickup--you can see photos on his website Outdoor Bonaire dot com--which makes him able to drive you to fabulous overlooks and off-the-beaten-track roads. You will definitely want to see the gorgeous national park, the pink flamingo preserve, the salt flats, and that incomparable turquoise water! Our tour encompassed the entire island, lasted about five hours [which included lunch at a lagoon]. If you'd like to see our photos, email me at f and c hammond at suddenlink dot net, and I'll send you the link. Bonaire remains one of our favorite islands. We're sold on Hans!! :)

Hope this helps. Have a great cruise!

  6. Hello asnow815!

Hans' tour of Bonaire lasted about 5 hours. He charged $210 total, regardless of whether there were 2 people or more. [Another couple we met on the ship went with us.] He was a wonderful guide, knowledgeable about the island and willing to stop as often as we wanted to for photos. We also stopped for a wonderful lunch. If you email me at f and c hammond at suddenlink dot net, I will be glad to send you the link for the photos we took. You will love Bonaire! :)

  7. This will be my first time to Bonaire. I was wandering if anyone knew of a good reputable tour guide. We were wanting to get a tour of the highlights of the island and stop at a beach. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good tour? Thanks so much!

We were in Bonaire in December and toured with Hans. We recommend him without hesitation. He toured us all over the island, showing us all of the highlights. We stopped for a great lunch at a beautiful beach. You can contact him at hansoutdoor@hotmail.com I think you will be just delighted with him as your guide. We both loved Bonaire! Will be glad to fill in details if you want me to. We even have lots of photos we'd be glad to share.

    Hope this helps you. :)

  8. Thanks, Maja! I think DH and I will just take the ship's tender over there and treat the excursion as a private cruiseline island, except for having to pay for lunch! No sense in paying NCL $40 pp for the beach buffet. Sounds like a wonderful place from your detailed description. Very much appreciate your report! :)

  9. I am booked for the Beach Escape - opted to get our own food. From the many sites I visited there are places to eat.

Thank you so much! What a beautiful site you sent! How gorgeous is that beach!! Can't wait to see it. Really appreciate your tip about the places to eat. Why would we want to pay the ship $40 apiece?? Please post a full report when you return from your cruise. When do you leave? Assume you're on NCL, too. Our cruise is next December, so we have some time to plan.

Have a great cruise! Thanks again. :)

  10. Hi Connie,

I'm going to book the excursion to Cayo L. today. Don't really see anything else interesting. According to other posts the stop at Samana isn't worth getting off the ship unless you are on an excursion.

I'll post again late March and let you know what we found.

    Hi Molly,

Guess you'll have to be the pioneer! :) I'm in such a quandary; it will be great hearing from you after your cruise. Maybe you'll even have photos?? Since we'll not pass this way again, I think you're wise to go ahead and book the ship's excursion to ensure that you see what sounds like such a gorgeous place. Hey, a month from now, you won't even remember what it cost, but you'll remember what you saw and did!! And it will be so great to know that you'll be able to help fellow travelers. ;)

Can't wait to hear from you in six weeks or so . . .

    Enjoy your cruise!

  11. Thanks for the info. Guess we will definitely take the excursion there. Wish I could find a better (less expensive) way to spend the day there but it sounds like it's a must see/do.

    Molly

    Hi Molly and Chris,

I'll wait to hear from both of you after you've been on your cruise since we won't be there until December 23. It does sound as this is definitely the place to go. Like you, we'd rather go on our own and avoid the ship's crowds and cost. Thanks for letting us know after you've been. :)

  12. We're on the December 21 NCL Jewel, which visits Samana. One of the ship's shore excursions goes to Cayo Levantado. We were wondering whether or not anyone's been there, and if so, what we might expect. NCL offers the excursion with and without a "barbecue," which is $40 additional pp. Is there anywhere to eat there on our own? Any information will be appreciated. Thanks for your help. :)
