  1. In the UK, is the drink package the only option when you book with just 1 "perk" or could you choose the OBC instead? If you can pick the OBC and get the full $300USD, I would got that route since the classic non-alcoholic drink package would less than $150USD and that would at least leave you with the rest as spending money.

Once you select the wireless offering then your $300 OBC is gone. There’s no ‘balance’ after you make the choice and again- that’s wireless for 1 device, not 2.

  2. I purchaed this over-the-door organizer from Amazon back in 2014:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002V91962/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I have no idea about the flame retadedness of this item, but I have used it on multiple land and sea vacations without any issues. I understand the need to avoid any potential fire hazards when cruising, but I don't see how this item would be any different from an article of clothing brought from home...

    I agree.

  3. It is always a good idea to carry a letter with you from your doctors office stating you are a diabetic and are traveling with insulin and syringes. This helps if you get stopped in security or customs.

    Thank you for your advice.

I am also prescribed strong narcotics for another very painful condition that I’ve had for decades. About 10 years ago I went for a very long visit (2 months) with an dear friend who lives in Prague. I contacted the US State Department because I didn’t want to get accused of smuggling narcotics. I was given the same advice- a letter from my doctor & and copy of the written prescription. Turned out that I walked off the plane and straight into the Czech Republic. There was no Customs or anything. I was bummed because I got no Passport stamp. Lol. The same exact thing happened the next year when flying into Prague. This was 2008 & 2009. I sure hope their homeland security has improved.

  4. I have one. I bought it a couple cruises ago and used it most recently on the Bliss.

It didn't fit on the back of the bathroom door (too big) but worked really well on the back of the adjoining cabin door. I actually found a pic of it, which I think confirms my wife accusations that I take WAY too many pics. I've attached that pic.

One thing to note... make sure to get one that's FIRE RETARDANT. Otherwise, cruise lines could confiscate that and (more devastatingly) hold you up at security while you're trying to get on. Here's the one I bought on Amazon - Fire Retardant Hanging Organizer.

How would they know it’s fire retardant? Does the packaging say it is?

  5. I took my sharps container back to the medical centre at the end of one cruise and were asked next time to leave it to the steward. Because we travel pre and post cruise we normally bring a small screw top container with us to use as a sharps container. My insulin syringes are pre filled one off type and I just put them when empty in my suitcase for disposal at home needles removed of course

This is my first time traveling since diagnosed so I was in the dark. Thank you for your suggestions and experience. 🙃

  6. i apologize for the unnecessary cabin info. Where you typed "sky" I thought you meant suite, not deck. Re-reading, it looks like a pretty obnoxious brag and it wasn't my intent.

anyway, you will enjoy many hours out on the balcony.

    😂😂

    No worries, Money Bags. Lol.

Isn’t cruising solo (except for the $$), the best vacation???

  7. I just came off the Equinox in an S1Aft corner on deck 8 (also solo). It was FANTASTIC and the view is awesome.

If you're in one of the couple of S2's Aft on 10 & 11 then congrats--you'll get a great view and at a really super price with only compromise being the side window and a sliver of side balcony.

    Have a great trip!

PS Sorry the pic doesn't show much wake but sun was a bit off to the side. Trust me, you'll see the wake!

Wait- you were solo in a suite? I’d have to sell my house in order to afford a S2. I’m paying $400 extra for an aft cabin which is in the center of Deck 10. As it is a 7 day CC Aft- not a suite- for a solo cruiser is $2800. Your view does look lovely. Thank you for your beautiful picture and well wishes!

  8. We have cruised many times and I always take additional items “just in case” you need them . When I unpack after a cruise there are some clothes I discover that I have never worn. So this got me thinking how many people over pack or is it just me?

I used to over pack until I spent a week in New York City taking only items that fit in my backpack. That experience changed my life. I’m no longer haunted by the fear that I may need something and not have it. As long as I have laundry soap, I’m ok. For a cruise: one suitcase and a carry on back pack. Life is lighter not being possessed by my possessions.

  9. I have requested for every cruise through special needs department, prior to sailing, has never been in cabin upon arrival. Ask cabin steward, back in just a couple of minutes each time.

Is it a regular sharps container?

  10. Hi. I’m sailing solo on the Equinox in December. Aft cabin Deck 10 (Sky).

I’m trying to get an idea of the view from the balcony. I have dreams of seeing the aft wake. I’ve not been able to find either an aft photo of the ship or see a layered side view “floor plan” of the ship- something that can give me an idea of what the view will be- obstructed by the flag, only see the metal overhang from the cabin below.

Solo sailing means double fare. If my view isn’t what I’ve dreamed then I won’t spend all that hard saved money on an upgraded cabin.

Thanks for all your sage advice. 🙏

  11. Hello.

I’m insulin dependent and was wondering if Celebrity would provide a sharps container if requested? I can’t imagine packing one but if I had to- can I bring it to the Medical facility on the last morning? Or, is there a preferred method of needle disposal while on ship?

    Thanks.

  12. I'm booked on the same cruise December 15, 2018. I also have an aft cabin on the Sky deck. I've heard some complaints about having black ash on the deck from the smoke stack and I' wondering if you noticed any? Also- a quick question about tipping, if you don't mind. You wrote that you left a customary tip each night after dinner. Do you do this for all the wait staff at each meal? Do you hand it to the main waiter who served you or leave it on the table? I realize that tipping is a personal matter and it sounds like you had exemplary service that deserved additional gratuity. When you look at what Celebrity charges passengers daily for gratuity, you know the staff is being underpaid. I agree in additional tipping and I'm just wondering what is the most tactful, classy way to do it. Thank you!
